No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 999

Ruth looked Grace up and down with contempt and mocked, "Can people of your spending level even afford clothes from this store? I've seen plenty of girls like you."

Ruth turned around and handed the dress to Laura. "Laura, try this dress on. It really suits your style."

Laura glanced at the dress and then gave Noelle a challenging look.

Noelle watched as Laura approached in her high heels. "Oh, Noelle, how can you still be in the mood to go shopping? I heard that the witness almost died."

Noelle stared at Laura and replied, "Have you forgotten how you were on your knees begging before?"

Laura's expression changed slightly. "Yes, I begged you then, yet you still refused to help. So, don't blame me for being harsh now."

"So it was you who did it," Noelle said, having suspected it before but now surprised to hear the Merlocks openly admit it.

Laura smirked. "I'm warning you not to continue with this. The next person in trouble might be you."

Mia stepped forward and said, "Laura, don't go too far."

Laura gave her a cold look. "Am I going too far? Noelle is the one who's gone too far. I'm warning her now, and if she doesn't know what's good for her, there's nothing more I can do."

Noelle replied coldly, "Until the end, who knows what the outcome will be?"

Ruth snorted. "Noelle, your parents never knew their place either. And what happened to them? You know that very well.

"Don't repeat their mistakes. The Liddells can't beat us. They couldn't then, and they can't now."

Ruth was finally feeling vindicated. Now that Laura was engaged to Bradley, the Merlocks' company had received investment and wouldn't go bankrupt, and she herself wouldn't go to prison.

Noelle's face turned cold as she glared at Ruth. "Congratulations on finding such a good son-in-law, though 'son' might be a stretch. I heard he's even older than you."

When Ruth heard this, her expression immediately changed. "What did you say, you little bitch?"

She stepped forward, staring at Laura. "You knew your mother broke the law, yet you're helping her escape punishment, putting yourself in this situation. You brought this on yourself."

Laura took a few steps back and gritted her teeth. "Noelle, it's too early to celebrate. I'll make sure you lose completely.

"Your parents couldn't do anything against my family even when they were alive, and they can't do anything now that they're dead. After all, your parents were losers against us back then."

Noelle scoffed. "Go ahead and try. I heard that Mr. Hitchcock has quite a few bedroom kinks. I wonder if Ruth taught you all these things to help you satisfy that old geezer."

After hearing this, Laura lost her temper and grabbed Noelle's hair. "You're asking for death."

"I think you're the one asking for it," Noelle responded. She twisted herself free and threw Laura to the ground.

She looked down at Laura and added, "If I ever hear you say disrespectful things about my parents again, I will definitely make you regret ever opening that mouth of yours."
