Sharon took the water and drank, but before she could answer, Hayley suddenly asked, "Are you... pregnant?"

Sharon nearly dropped the glass, quickly denying it. "No. I... just had a stomach bug the last couple of days!"

"Oh." Hayley nodded, then added, "We have stomach medicine. I'll go get it for you."

She immediately turned to fetch the first aid kit.

Panicking slightly, Sharon set the glass down and hurried after her.

Hayley pulled out the medical box. "For nausea and dry heaving... take this one, this one, and this one. Oh, and antibiotics too, to clear up any infection. It's probably gastroenteritis."

She pressed the pills into Sharon's hand. "Mom will get you some water."

Sharon put the medicine down on the table and grabbed her arm. "I don't need it, Mom. It's just a minor bug, no need for medication. I took some earlier and I'm already feeling better."

Hayley eyed her suspiciously. "Are you sure? You should still take something, especially since you're throwing up."

Sharon shook her head. "I really don't need it. I don't want to take anything."

Hayley didn't force the issue. "Alright then. But if you throw up again, you have to take the meds, or we're going to the hospital."

Sharon nodded. "Okay."

Two days passed in a flash.

Caleb and Emeline were scheduled to return tomorrow. Everyone knew by now, including the older generation.

Even Hayley had cried for a good while, lamenting how a boy as wonderful as Caleb could be taken so soon. Fate was truly cruel.

Truth be told, Caleb had left a lasting impression on the Nash family. He had never hidden his affection for Sharon. He pursued her openly, even declaring his intentions right in front of her parents.

And he was always respectful, with impeccable character and perfect boundaries. No one could fault him for anything. Both of Sharon's parents had adored him.
