No More Mrs. Nice Wife (Eleanor) novel Chapter 1520

That evening, as Eleanor was tidying up a room, she turned around to find her daughter missing. She went downstairs to look. Joslyn was cleaning the kitchen, so she asked, "Joslyn, have you seen Evelyn?"

"Evelyn and Princess just went over to his side," Joslyn answered naturally, before quickly covering her mouth to correct herself. "Mr. Goodwin's side."

Eleanor didn't mind. She opened the adjoining door and stepped into Ian's house. Sure enough, she heard her daughter's laughter coming from the second floor.

Compared to the warm, cozy vibe of her own villa, Ian's place felt expansive and stark, exuding a sharp, minimalist masculinity.

Catching her scent, Princess trotted out of the playroom, whining excitedly at the top of the stairs as if begging her to join them.

She patted the dog's head and walked toward the playroom. Evelyn was building with blocks, with Ian acting as her assistant.

Under the warm lights, the father and daughter made a picture-perfect scene. Dressed in dark casual wear, Ian's gray hair stood out starkly under the light. His head was tilted, entirely focused on his daughter's instructions as he helped her find the right Lego pieces.

She stood in the doorway, quietly taking in the sight. It was like a stone tossed into a still lake, sending ripples through her heart.

Just a year ago, he had a full head of thick, dark hair. He was only thirty, full of vigor and pride, but now his hair was completely gray—a silent testament to the immense burden he had carried alone.

She didn't know why, but a sudden wave of bitterness washed over her. After severing ties with Vanessa, he had crawled back into their lives in an almost pitifully desperate way.

Maybe... she really had been too harsh on him.

"Mommy!" Evelyn spotted her and waved excitedly. "Come play with us!"
