Chapter 150 I Assumed
Sergio’s words made Alfred’s brows furrow.
A trace of confusion appeared in his eyes.
“But she never told me. I assumed she didn’t need those things.”
Sergio was speechless.
You simply assumed?
Boss, why don’t you just fire me instead?
For a moment, Sergio was tempted to say it out loud.
Finished
But the high salary of being Keywood Group’s executive assistant kept him working like a lapdog for the CEO.
“Mr. Keywood, haven’t you heard that asking for something versus someone giving it to you voluntarily has a completely different meaning?”
Different meaning?
The confusion in Alfred’s eyes deepened.
After a moment, he waved at Sergio. “Alright, you can go. Just finish what I assigned you.”
Sergio nodded, secretly breathing a sigh of relief.
Now he finally understood what teachers felt like when dealing with failing students.
Yes, exactly this feeling.
After Sergio left, Alfred stared blankly at the tall stack of documents in front of him, confusion still in his eyes.
Did Nella really need those things?
But if that were the case, wouldn’t it defeat the whole purpose of marrying her?
When he had Nella sign that agreement, wasn’t the whole point to have a hassle-free marriage?
But now he realized he had done something wrong.
And he was gradually pushing Nella away.

Remembering that inexplicable, dull pain in his chest earlier, panic suddenly surged through
him.
He felt he needed to do something.
He stood up from his chair and strode toward the door without even changing out of his dirty
shirt.
But when his hand touched the handle, he stopped.
After a few seconds of pondering, he withdrew his hand and returned to his desk.
He didn’t know what he was afraid of.
He just didn’t want to go back to Emerald Vista Bay right now.
It seemed that as long as he didn’t go back, he wouldn’t have to face what he was trying to avoid.
Then his phone rang.
It was Norris calling.
Disgust flashed in Alfred’s eyes, but he answered anyway. “Hello?”
“Alfred, something terrible happened. Zoey’s had an incident. Can you come to Apex Medical University Hospital?”
Norris’s anxious voice came through immediately.
Alfred’s brows furrowed. Thinking of Zoey’s online posts, he asked softly, “What happened to her?”
“Those ignorant people online are cursing Zoey, saying she wanted to be a homewrecker and destroy your marriage with Nella, calling her some kind of … delusional fan or something. I don’t understand these things. Anyway, Zoey was so upset she had a breakdown. We brought her to the hospital. She keeps asking to see you.”
Alfred felt irritation rising in his chest.
“Alfred, please help me. Come and see her at the hospital. The doctor is trying to bandage her wounds, and she won’t cooperate.”
Finally, Alfred agreed.
“I’ll come over now.”

After hanging up, Alfred looked down at the stain on his white shirt. He went to the restroom to change into a clean one, then left the Keywood Group building and headed to Apex Medical University Hospital.
In the emergency room waiting area, Zoey sat in a chair playing with her phone, showing no signs of the dangerous state Norris had described on the phone.
“Zoey, you should let the doctor bandage it. What if it leaves a scar?”
