Chapter 153 Here for Something Else
Zoey was starting to feel afraid.

Alfred’s bottomless indulgence in the past had made her reckless. She had never imagined that going after Nella would cross his line.
How could that be?
When did it even start?
He used to spoil me so much.
Even when I lied about being kidnapped and tricked him into rushing back from Glacieroth, he didn’t get angry at me.
So why is it different this time?
Alfred didn’t say much. He only left her with a simple, “rest well,” and walked away.
Just as he stepped out of the emergency building, he ran straight into Jasmine, who had appeared there.
The moment she saw him, a cold smile flashed across Jasmine’s face.
“Mr. Keywood. What a coincidence, running into you at the ER again.”
As she spoke, she glanced past Alfred’s shoulder.
That was where Zoey was.
“You really are the perfect devoted childhood friend. When your wife runs into trouble, you hide as far away as possible. But the moment your dear childhood sweetheart shows up at the ER, you catch a whiff and sprint right to the front.”
Just thinking about how Alfred had abandoned Nella alone in Glacieroth, nearly getting her killed, filled Jasmine with rage.
Everything about Alfred rubbed her the wrong way.
Jasmine’s words sent a flash of coldness through Alfred’s eyes.
But remembering that Jasmine was Nella’s best friend, he still explained instinctively, “I’m here for something else.”
Jasmine had only planned to throw a few barbs at him and leave. She hadn’t expected Alfred to say anything decent.
She was surprised to hear someone as arrogant as him actually explain himself.
Well, color me shocked.
“Your mess with Zoey didn’t start yesterday. What’s there to explain now?”
Why didn’t you explain earlier?

Chapter 153 Here for Something Else
What’s done is done, and now you show up and act like you care?
“Besides, those words should be said to Nella. What’s the point of explaining them to me?”
With that, Jasmine shot Alfred a look full of disgust and turned to leave.
“Jasmine.”
Alfred suddenly called out to her.
She turned back and saw Alfred hesitate, his mouth opening as if he wanted to ask something.
“What?”
Her tone was sharp.
After what felt like a long internal struggle, Alfred finally spoke,
“How long has Nella been keeping that man on the side?”
Jasmine was baffled.
“What did you just say?”
Her voice instantly flared with rage.
“Alfred, you’re tangled up with another woman yourself, and now you want to smear Nella?”
“Marshal.”
Alfred practically ground the name out through clenched teeth.
Jasmine froze, then her shock turned into disbelief.
“That man named Marshal.”
Alfred repeated the name, his face dark.
And after the initial shock, Jasmine understood.
She crossed her arms and looked at Alfred like she was watching a show.
“So you found out?”
Seeing Alfred’s tightly clenched jaw, a trace of malice flashed in Jasmine’s eyes.
“Since you already know, why are you asking me?”
Alfred’s fist slowly curled tighter.
His icy gaze locked onto Jasmine’s amused expression.
