Chapter 154 The House That Looked Different
Alfred asked through gritted teeth, “How long has it been? How long… have they been together?”
Jasmine rolled her eyes. “You wanna know? Ask Nella yourself.”
After shooting him a cold look, Jasmine turned and walked away.
But after a few steps, she stopped.
She turned back to Alfred. “Alfred, if you don’t love Nella, then let her go sooner rather than later.”
“Who said I-”
The words reached his lips, then abruptly stopped.
He pressed his lips together and stared at Jasmine coldly.
“This is between Nella and me. It’s none of your business. You should worry about Mason instead.”
After throwing out that spiteful remark, he turned and left without looking back.
Even his retreating figure carried a hint of panic.
It was as if staying one second longer would mean hearing Jasmine tell him to divorce Nella.
“Mr. Keywood, are we heading back to the office?” the driver asked quietly, glancing back at Alfred.
The sudden drop in pressure inside the car made the driver uneasy.

Alfred leaned back against the soft leather seat and pressed his aching temples. “Back to Emerald Vista Bay.”
Half an hour later, Alfred stood at the front door.
The home he shared with Nella.
For the first time, he lost the courage to open the door.
He stood there, not even daring to enter the passcode.
In the end, he seemed to gather all his courage before finally pressing it in.
Even the sound of the lock disengaging made his chest tremble.
He pushed the door open. The house was as quiet as ever,
He couldn’t remember how long it had been since he came home to silence like this, so lifeless.
He stood quietly in the entryway, staring blankly at the still living room.
At first glance, nothing in the room seemed to have changed.
Yet Alfred suddenly felt like something had been hollowed out of his chest, just like the bare patch of dirt on

He pressed a hand to his chest, a dull ache spreading.

Suddenly, his gaze snapped toward the bedroom. Without even changing his shoes, he rushed inside.
Nella hadn’t slept in the main bedroom for a long time.
Her clothes had long since been cleared out of the closet. Only his dark-toned clothes hung there now, lonely and stark.
They looked like they were mocking him.
A thought struck him. He walked to the nightstand and pulled open the drawer.
Nella’s wedding ring lay there quietly.
He remembered the excuse she’d given that day, saying her surgeon told her not to wear jewelry.
But she had always worn it when she wasn’t in surgery, so why had she suddenly changed her mind?
Alfred picked up the ring and clenched it tightly in his palm.
Then another thought hit him. He stood up and hurried to the guest bedroom.
When he pushed the door open, his steps stopped at the doorway.
The bed was neatly made.
Everything that belonged to Nella was gone.
He suddenly went crazy, searching everywhere for any trace of her.
But he couldn’t find a single thing that belonged to Nella anymore.
“She really left?”
Alfred stood in the empty living room, murmuring in a daze.
In his chest, that dense, creeping pain spread like poisoned vines, wrapping tightly around his heart.
