Chapter 178 Not Okay
Finished
Nella seemed to guess what Alfred was about to say. The light that had just flickered in her eyes dimmed.
Sure enough, the next second, Alfred said, “Legally, we’re married. We’re a real couple, recognized by the state and the law. Getting a divorce involves a lot of procedures.”
“Well, you can skip the property division, go to the courthouse to file the paperwork, wait out the cooling- off period, then go pick up the certificate. It’s not that complicated,” Nella picked up his sentence and replied patiently.
Alfred laughed when he heard that.
From that smile, Nella sensed something malicious.
Sure enough, she heard him say, “What if I don’t cooperate?”
He stared at her furrowed brow and emphasized, “As long as I don’t cooperate, this divorce won’t happen.”
Nella was clearly angry. “I’ll file for divorce.”
“For what reason?” Alfred asked.
“Irreconcilable differences.”
“Where are they?” Alfred pressed.
Nella opened her mouth instinctively, then froze in surprise when she realized she couldn’t find a single sign of them.
The truth was, they’d never even had a real fight. They’d been so harmonious that even if she told a judge they didn’t get along, the judge wouldn’t believe it.
But then, she remembered something else.
“The stuff between you and Zoey. She’s documented it online. I could use any of that as evidence that our marriage has fallen apart.”
Alfred’s pupils narrowed slightly. “Is that so? Based on those videos where I don’t even clearly appear on camera?”
He gave a short, mocking laugh. “Nella, I didn’t expect you to be this naive.”
Nella thought back to the videos Zoey had filmed, where Alfred only appeared vaguely, and fell silent.
After all, in this country, it wasn’t easy to get a divorce.
Even with photos and videos of two people together, unless you caught them in bed, a divorce might not be granted.
Besides, she didn’t have any solid evidence at all.
Alfred was right. As long as he didn’t agree, dragging it out for years was entirely possible.

Chapter 178 Not Okay
For a moment, Nella felt deflated.
Finished
“Since you care so much about Zoey, why don’t you divorce me and let me step down from this empty title? Then you can take care of her openly, and no one will gossip.”
Nella tried her best to speak calmly to Alfred.
She didn’t have the energy to fight until they tore each other apart just to get divorced.
Her words made Alfred frown deeply.
“There’s nothing romantic between Zoey and me. I would never marry her. Why won’t you believe me?”
Alfred’s irritated voice rose a few degrees.
Passersby began to turn their heads to look.
“Whether I believe you or not isn’t important. What we’re talking about now is our divorce.”
Compared to Alfred, who looked on the verge of exploding, Nella was exceptionally calm.
“With or without Zoey, the term of this marriage was always three years, wasn’t it?”
Nella met Alfred’s gaze directly and pointed out the fact sharply and clearly.
“That was the term you set. Have you forgotten?”
Those words left Alfred completely speechless.
Nella’s calm, orderly reasoning left him with nowhere to hide.
He suddenly understood what it meant to weave a cocoon and trap himself inside it.
It really … sucked.
“I regret it, okay?” Alfred ground out through clenched teeth.
Nella’s gaze sharpened. She shook her head. “No. It’s not okay.”
