Chapter 180 Good Dog

Thinking of that, Nella suddenly remembered something and said. “If you’re planning to ask me to drop the demand for Zoey to apologize and clarify things online, then don’t bother. Worst case, we just won’t get divorced and drag it out.”

Seeing Alfred’s expression turn cold all of a sudden, she thought she’d guessed right and added, “But when that happens, Mr. Keywood, I’ll be blunt-as long as we’re still married, Zoey is still the other woman. If you don’t care about her getting torn apart online, then let’s drag it out. I don’t mind.”

She let out a mocking snort. “Just don’t let it worsen her depression. I won’t take responsibility for that.”

“That’s enough,” Alfred said coldly, his face dark with anger.

His shadowed gaze, heavy and oppressive, landed on Nella’s face.

“This is between us. Why do you always drag Zoey into it?”

Nella froze. “Aren’t you trying to use Zoey to negotiate with me?”

“Nella!”

For the first time in his life, Alfred felt genuine doubt about existence itself.

Was I blind before? How did I ever think Nella was easy to get along with?

Her talent for making people angry is unmatched.

“When did I ever say I wanted to talk about Zoey? Can you stop dragging her into everything?”

Alfred glared at Nella, grinding his teeth as he snapped.

His knuckles cracked audibly.

Very few people could rival her ability to infuriate others.

Seeing that Alfred was so angry that the corners of his eyes had turned red, Nella realized she’d misunderstood and shut her mouth.

“Fair enough. At a time like this, you probably don’t want my reputation affected either,” she muttered quietly.

If her reputation took a hit, Keywood Group’s reputation would take a hit too.

Between Keywood Group and Zoey, Alfred would still choose Keywood Group.

At the end of the day, he was a businessman. Even childhood bonds couldn’t compare to corporate

interests.

Nella silently complained a little in her heart.

Alfred understood the meaning she hadn’t said out loud.

It hurt. His chest tightened again with anger.

Just then, Nella’s phone rang.

It was a WhatsApp alert.

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

That familiar rapid-fire message tone made Alfred’s brow twitch.

It’s that damn Marshal again, right?

The sound grated on his nerves.

Nella picked up her phone and saw it was from Wesley.

Ever since that day, she and Wesley hadn’t really been in touch.

[How have you been feeling lately?]

[Feeling any better?]

[Have you been taking your meds on time?]

[There’s been a highly contagious gastrointestinal virus going around here in Glacieroth this week. The hospitals are packed. I’ve been so busy that I didn’t even have time to check on you.]

The messages kept coming in.

Nella was already used to Wesley’s habit of sending texts one line at a time.

She didn’t think much of it and replied to him.

After sending her reply, she looked back at Alfred. The smile that had been on her lips just moments ago had already faded.

The contrast was so stark it stabbed Alfred right in the heart.

“He’s a real good dog. He seems to really know how to sweet-talk people,” Alfred said coldly, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Clearly, in his mind, the man who sent messages line-by-line was the Marshal Nella was secretly keeping on

the side.

Alfred’s hostility toward him grew even stronger.

For a moment, Nella didn’t even understand what Alfred’s sudden remark was supposed to mean.
