Chapter 181 A Clean Break
Nella froze for a moment before frowning.
“Do you really like calling people dogs and puppies?”
Alfred, condescending and self-righteous, clearly had no idea how to respect others.
“Last time you messaged me and called me a dumb dog, I didn’t even argue with you. And now you’re calling my friend a dog too?”
Nella asked coldly.
That question stunned Alfred.
Then he suddenly remembered the photo of the clouds in the sky he’d taken in the office that day.
The half-typed message he’d accidentally sent out when Camelia barged in-
[Look at this dog. It looks kinda dumb. Doesn’t it look like you?]
Alfred’s eyelid twitched hard.
He was just about to explain when Nella spoke again.
“If you don’t want to talk properly right now, then let’s not talk. I’m going back to the hospital.”
Maybe after being numbed by Nella all afternoon, Alfred had finally lost his temper completely. Being misunderstood by her now, he didn’t even feel like arguing anymore.
“I said the wrong thing. I’m sorry,” he said in a low voice, his posture unusually humble.
It was nothing like the domineering CEO Keywood that Nella remembered.
Alfred looked at her with dim eyes and asked, “Can we talk properly now?”
His tone softened even more.
At least now, he really did sound like he wanted to talk properly
“Okay,”
Nella nodded and laid out her thoughts clearly for Alfred.
“There’s no deep grudge between us. The contract was signed from the very beginning. There’s no need to tear each other apart over a marriage that exists in name/only. A clean break is best for both of us. Don’t you think?”
Alfred didn’t answer. He just pressed his lips together tightly, murmuring her words under his breath. “A clean break…”
Then he let out a self-mocking laugh. “Yes. A clean break.”

He lifted his eyes and looked into Nella’s clear, steady gaze.

“Fine. Then a clean break. We’ll do everything according to the contract. When the month is up, I agree to divorce you.”
That had been Nella’s plan all along.
So naturally, she agreed with Alfred’s proposal.
“I’m fine with that.”
“So when I need you, you’ll cooperate with me too, right?” Alfred looked straight at Nella and asked seriously.
Nella was only focused on getting the divorce finalized smoothly. She didn’t notice the deeper meaning behind his question and nodded again.
“Yes. I said it before. Anything you need Mrs. Keywood to do, I’ll cooperate.”
“Good,” Alfred responded quietly. His eyes lowered, and Nella couldn’t see his expression clearly.
Still, with everything on the table, Nella felt like a weight had been lifted. She finally felt lighter.
As long as she got through the next month smoothly and picked up the divorce certificate, then she and Alfred would probably never cross paths again.
Thinking of that, Nella lowered her gaze, unclear emotions swirling in her eyes.
At the Mack Residence.
“Dad, I don’t want to apologize online. I’ve already been cursed out as a delusional homewrecker. If people find out I deliberately hurt Patrick, they’ll hound me to death.”
Zoey sat on the couch, furious.
Her face was full of malice and resentment. “That bitch Nella just has to make my life hell.”
