Chapter 202 A Cruel Spectator

The short-haired woman in the passenger seat followed his gaze and looked over.

It really was Alfred.

“Babe, I’ll go see what’s going on with Alfred. He looks like a stray puppy or something,” Jesse Watson said to his girlfriend in the passenger seat.

The car slowly edged closer to Alfred’s Bentley.

“Yep, that’s my guy.”

Jesse pulled over, got out, and jogged quickly toward Alfred.

“Alfred, what are you doing out here?”

Alfred slowly raised his eyes. When he saw Jesse, the blank look on his face finally eased a little.

“What are you doing here?” he asked hoarsely.

“I was taking my girlfriend home and spotted you. What’s wrong with you?”

It was Jesse’s first time seeing Alfred look this miserable and pitiful. He felt curious, nosy, and a little secretly amused.

“It’s nothing. Hurry up and take your girlfriend home.”

Seeing Alfred like this, Jesse couldn’t possibly leave him standing alone on the roadside.

“Alfred, wait for me.”

As he spoke, he ran back to the passenger side and said apologetically to the woman inside, “Babe, Alfred’s not in a good state. I need to keep an eye on him. How about you take my car home first?”

“Alright.”

Danielle Gordon briskly unbuckled her seat belt and got out of the car.

She was the girlfriend of Jesse, that brainless idiot. She liked his money, had been dating him for a few months, and had made quite a bit off him.

Naturally, she did whatever Jesse said.

At least, she believed her obedience on the surface was flawless.

She opened the door and got out. As she walked around to the driver’s seat, she paused beside Alfred.

She sized him up with a meaningful look.

“Are you upset and worn out because Zoey got taken in, so you’re worried sick?”

It was the first time Jesse had ever heard her talk to Alfred like that. His eyes nearly popped out.

He rushed over, covered her mouth, and shot her frantic looks.

“Babe, how can you talk to Alfred like that?”

Danielle looked shocked, her eyes innocent. “Huh? Didn’t Zoey get arrested? Did I get that wrong?”

Jesse was speechless.

That’s not the point!

Wait. No.

Why does that sound so snide?

“Sorry. I’ll be more subtle. Guess nobody wants their dirty laundry aired in public.”

Danielle pouted and smoothly corrected herself, then looked at Alfred again and said. “Alfred, you look so lost and miserable. Is it because you’re worried about Zoey having a hard time inside? Is that why you’re so upset-mmph.”

Before she could finish, Jesse, completely panicked, clamped a hand over her mouth and dragged her toward the driver’s seat.

“Babe, just go.”

Danielle snorted inwardly.

She rolled her eyes at Jesse, silently cursed him as an “idiot,” and floored the gas.

The multimillion-dollar luxury car roared off into the distance.

Jesse watched his Phantom Coupe disappear and wiped his forehead

He broke out in a cold sweat for his girlfriend.

“What’s wrong with her today? Why’s she so bold?”

Jesse muttered to himself for a moment, then walked back to Alfred.

“Alfred…”

The moment he spoke, he saw Alfred’s eyes blazing red, staring straight at him without blinking.
