No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 201

Chapter 201 Left in the Cold

Nella quickly opened the car door and got out.

Alfred was so shocked by her move that fear and anger hit him at once, his face turning deathly pale.

The moment Nella unbuckled and stepped out, he had already jumped out as well.

Fuming, he stormed around to the passenger side and grabbed Nella’s wrist, his eyes blazing red with rage.

“You’re throwing your life away for that worthless thing?! Nella, do you even know what you’re doing

His heart was shaking violently, his voice trembling hard.

Just thinking about how she’d dared to get out while the car was still moving made his whole body quake in

fear.

Of course, Nella knew what she was doing.

She would never actually jump out into traffic.

She did it because she knew Alfred wouldn’t want a death on his conscience and would pull over.

She’d already died once. She treasured her life.

But she had no interest in explaining any of that to Alfred. She only shot him a cold glance and said. Tm going back to find Marshal. Let go of me.”

Seeing the red at the corners of Nella’s eyes and the icy look she gave him, Alfred felt waves of soreness and pain surge through his anger.

He stared at her with bloodshot eyes, pain spilling out from deep within them.

“Nella, you can’t do this to me.”

His hoarse voice shook as he spoke.

Nella’s mind was completely consumed with worry over where Marshal had gone.

She didn’t hear Alfred at all, nor did she respond.

She was busy posting messages in the local pet groups she’d joined, looking for Marshal.

She anxiously refreshed every group, but still couldn’t find what she was looking for.

Her panic grew, along with her impatience.

When Alfred still refused to let go, she lashed out and kicked him hard in the shin.

She was a doctor. She knew exactly where it would hurt most.

She didn’t hold back at all.

Alfred felt like the bone in his lower leg had been snapped in half. The pain made him instinctively release her wrist.

Nella didn’t spare him another glance. She quickly flagged down a cab that had just passed by.

“Nella!”

Alfred tried to grab her again, but his hand caught nothing but air.

Nella had already shut the cab door and left.

Alfred stood there, staring blankly and painfully at his now-empty hand.

He froze for several seconds. When he finally looked up again, the cab carrying Nella was already gone.

He stood there for a long time, the pain in his chest becoming sharper and clearer, like a blade carving him up over and over.

He bent forward slightly. The pain in his leg had long been drowned out by the pain in his heart. It barely registered anymore.

Cars passed by in a steady stream. Neon lights flickered on and off.

At that moment, Alfred looked like an abandoned stray puppy, standing motionless in the cold wind.

His eyes were full of confusion.

After a long while, he let out a self-mocking, bitter laugh like an idiot.

“Nella, you’re really ruthless.”

Maybe it was because the air in Apex was too cold. The corners of Alfred’s eyes grew redder and redder.

“Damn! Isn’t that Alfred? What, is he out here filming some kind of Hallmark winter drama in the cold?”

Not far behind his car, a dark gray Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe was slowly approaching Alfred’s direction.
