No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 214

Chapter 214 His Proposal

As much as she hated to admit it, Alfred wasn’t wrong.

Most landlords really didn’t want tenants with pets. That was just the truth.

Her current place had never been lived in after the remodel. The only reason she got it was because it belonged to a friend of Jasmine’s.

She furrowed her brows and stayed quiet.

But in the back of her mind, she was already considering buying her own place.

With how crazy property prices were in Apex, there was no way she could afford one on just her income.

But she could borrow from her parents.

Nella started doing the math.

Alfred noticed her silence. He could tell she was wavering, so he went in for the push.

“We had a deal. After the divorce, I’d buy you a few condos in the city. Till then, let Marshal stay at our place. Sound good?”

Divorce?

Mason had been focused on the road, but the second he heard that word, his eyes twitched.

“You two are actually getting divorced?”

Alfred turned toward him and narrowed his eyes. He picked up on something strange in Mason’s tone. Was that… happiness?

He stared him down. “Worry about your own damn mess.”

But Mason’s grin just got wider.

You know how it goes.

You don’t want your buddy to suffer, but you also don’t want him doing better than you.

Mason didn’t care if his friends lived a good life. But if he was going through hell, he sure as hell didn’t want to be alone in it.

Why should he be the only one getting divorced? But Alfred treated Nella like garbage, and somehow, she still stayed?

No way.

They better split. He needed a wingman for the misery.

Alfred turned back to Nella. His tone softened.

Chapter 214 His Proposal

“You don’t have to stress. Everything I promised you, I’ll follow through.”

Nella understood exactly what he meant. He was talking about the divorce.

But now he wanted her to move back into Emerald Vista Bay?

Her brow tensed immediately.

Just when Alfred thought she was about to cave, she shut it down fast.

“No. That place is too far from the hospital. That doesn’t work. Marshal’s still a pup. He’s not gonna ruin anything.”

There was only a month left. She wasn’t about to get roped back into Alfred’s mess just because of Marshal.

She’d just moved out of Emerald Vista Bay. She wasn’t going back in.

And more than that-

“I thought you didn’t even like dogs.”

She stared straight at him as she said it.

That hit Alfred like a punch to the chest.

He couldn’t lie. He didn’t like dogs.

Honestly, he didn’t like anything with fur.

But Marshal wasn’t just some dog. Marshal was hers.

Couldn’t she see he was trying to stay in her life?

Alfred looked at her with a mix of guilt and frustration. Then, after a long pause, he finally muttered, “Okay, yeah. I don’t like dogs. But Marshal’s different. He’s my brother-in-law.”

“Okay, yeah. I don’t like dogs. But Marshal’s different. He’s my brother-in-law.”

Nella stared at him in silence.

So did the couple in the front. No one said a word. His shamelessness was beyond belief.

This was what rock bottom looked like when a man ditched his pride.

Congratulations, Mr. Keywood. You broke new ground.

“Nella, where are you staying now?”

Mason suddenly called out. His voice was louder than necessary and aimed right at the back seat.

He couldn’t take one more second of Alfred’s nonsense.

It was the first time Nella ever heard Mason call her with such a friendly tone. She froze for a beat, then gave him her current address.
