No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 219

Chapter 219 Nella’s Guess

Was he scared she might back out and crash Keywood Group’s stock?

That would be pointless.

She already said yes. She wasn’t the type to bail after giving her word.

So, no. He didn’t need to play nice just to keep her around.

Or maybe the moment she tried to walk away, he panicked. Maybe three years of being around her finally caught up to him. Maybe he realized he actually wanted her and now he was trying to fix it.

If she were still a dumb teenager, she might’ve bought into that crap. But she wasn’t.

She was 25. She’d nearly died once already.

She wasn’t soft anymore.

She let out a short laugh.

“Whatever the reason, he still got dirty saving Marshal. Then I dumped a bowl of water on him. I couldn’t just let him walk out like that.”

There was something she didn’t bring up.

The second Alfred peeled off his coat and went down that sewer drain without hesitation, she’d been

floored.

That thing had been sealed for years. The gas buildup inside could’ve killed someone. But he still went in.

If she said it didn’t shake her at all, she’d be lying.

But it was just that. A jolt. Nothing more.

“Nella.”

Alfred’s voice came from the bathroom.

It was drawn out and low, almost like a murmur.

Mason visibly flinched. His skin crawled from the sound alone.

But hey, it was between them. He had no business interfering.

As much as he hated how Alfred spoiled Zoey, he didn’t really want the guy to suffer either.

The way Alfred called her name again made Nella tense. It felt too intimate.

Still, she walked over and stopped outside the door.

“What?”

“Can you bring me a towel?”

His voice came through again, followed by another question.

“Am I being too much trouble?”

Nella didn’t answer. She went to the other bathroom, grabbed a clean towel, and walked back.

At that moment, Mason’s phone buzzed.

He glanced down. A message from Alfred lit up the screen.

“Why haven’t you left yet?”

Mason frowned. “I’m sorry?”

“My wife’s here. I’m waiting for her,” Mason texted.

“Take your wife and leave. Now.”

Mason started typing “No,” but before he hit send, Alfred fired off another one.

“I don’t have clothes. I’ll walk out in just a towel.”

Mason’s whole body jolted.

Unbelievable. He knows no shame.

“Babe, it’s late. Let’s just go,” he muttered, pocketing his phone and grabbing Jasmine’s hand.

It really was getting late, and she was already planning to leave. But she hesitated.

She didn’t love the idea of Nella being alone with Alfred.

“Why’s he still here?”

She frowned, her voice low.

“He’s got nothing to wear.”

Jasmine didn’t even bother replying.

Meanwhile, Nella walked up to the guest bath and knocked on the door.

A few seconds later, Alfred cracked it open.

Steam billowed out, thick and hot, covering most of his body in mist.

Nella shut her eyes right away and reached out the towel. “Here.”

Just as she tried to pull her hand back, Alfred grabbed her wrist and yanked her inside.

“Alfred! What the hell are you doing?!”

Her voice snapped, ice cold.

Right there, in front of her, he stood completely naked. The steam slowly drifted away, revealing the chiseled shape of his bare chest and shoulders.
