Chapter 228 The Culprit
The couple walked past the little golden retriever.
He froze and backed himself into the wall.
That was when it all went to hell.
The woman spotted him and slammed her foot right into his side.
She shouted something nasty while she did it.
The pup shook like a leaf and collapsed in the corner.
His eyes were wide open, filled with fear and confusion.
Fimshet
But she wasn’t done yet. She grabbed him by the back of the neck and yanked him off the ground. She dragged him forward, heading straight for a storm drain.
Somehow, she had the strength to crack the cover open. The metal scraped hard against the pavement, loud and rough. Without a second’s hesitation, she threw him in.
The clang echoed when he hit the bottom, sharp and brutal. She yanked the lid back into place. The slam of the cover rang out like a final blow.
Then she clapped her hands together and gave this smug little smile. She walked off without a single glance
back.
The middle-aged man with her didn’t help with the abuse, but he didn’t do a thing to stop it.
He just stood there, his expression blank as a stone, like it had nothing to do with him.
The video spread like wildfire.
The comments exploded with fury.
Everyone wanted to dox this lunatic.
But the footage had been recorded from too far away. Her actions were crystal clear, but her face wasn’t.
Alfred’s face darkened instantly.
He remembered Nella crying her heart out when Marshal went missing. If she saw this, it would destroy her. She’d think it was all her fault.
He tapped the screen over and over, silent and locked in thought. Then he called Sergio in
“You needed me, sir?”
Alfred held his phone out.
“Did you see this?”

Sergio worked nonstop like a machine. He didn’t have time for viral clips.
Yet here was the CEO, apparently scrolling online during work hours.
Was this a joke? He’s not the kind to waste time or slack off.
He leaned closer, confused.
A harsh crack broke the air. It sounded like a heavy boot slamming flesh.
Sergio’s mouth dropped. “Are you kidding me?!”
He completely lost his cool.
“Who the hell touches Mr. Marshal like that?! Are they out of their mind?!”
Alfred gave him a cold look.
“Get it wiped. Everywhere.”
“Wait, you want it deleted? Why?!”
This was the kind of sick behavior that deserved full-on internet wrath.
Unless…
Did Alfred know the woman in the clip?
Was this him trying to protect her? Sergio stared at him with disbelief.
But Alfred didn’t blink. He was stern and solemn.
“My wife will fall apart if she sees this.”
Well, that was new. Whoa, someone took a crash course in romance.
He used to act like she didn’t exist. Now he was shielding her from heartbreak?
That was a first. Even so…
Sergio scratched the side of his head, unsettled.
Alfred noticed the hesitation and glanced up.
“What’s the issue?”
“No issue at all. I’ll tell PR to scrub it now.”
Sergio nodded and turned to leave, but the pit in his stomach stayed, and he couldn’t figure out why.
That clip was brutal. Even he could barely sit through it. If Nella ever watched it, she’d drown in guilt for not protecting Marshal.
