“Sergio, what’s up with Mr. Keywood today? He looks like he’s carrying a ton of anger and nowhere to put it.”

Sergio shrugged, just as confused. “No idea. Feels like someone dumped him.”

“Who would dare dump our boss? That’s asking for trouble.”

Just as Sergio was about to agree, a thought struck him, and his eyes lit up.

“Mrs. Keywood works here, right? Maybe he fought with her last night?”

“It could be. I heard he was supposed to travel with Mrs. Keywood a couple of weeks ago. Instead, he spent that time with Ms. Mack. He really overstepped. So if Mrs. Keywood’s upset?”

Before Richie could finish, Sergio knocked him on the head.

“Hey! Why’d you hit me?”

“Richie, your name says ‘rich’, but you’re not. If Mr. Keywood hears you say that, you’re done.”

Scratching his head, Richie said, “Mom says if I treat my wife badly, money won’t fill my pockets. But if I treat her right, I’ll really be rich someday.”

Sergio chuckled, but he didn’t kill Richie’s dream. “Ambitious. When you’re rich, I’ll come work for you.”

“Are you leaving Mr. Keywood then?”

“You said it yourself-treating your wife wrong blocks the money. If he keeps treating Mrs. Keywood badly and goes broke, I gotta bail too.”

“Heh, makes sense. When I make it big, I’ll take care of you.”

“Smartass.”

Around noon, Nella had just finished up when Jasmine showed up.

“Nella, let’s grab lunch.” Jasmine’s head peeked around the door.

“Sure, I’m coming.”

Nella set down the chart for the new heart surgery patient, stood up, and followed her out.

Chapter 23 He Treats Her Badly

They made their way to the hospital cafeteria.

Just as they got their food and sat down, someone suddenly stopped next to them.

They looked up together. It was Mason.

Jasmine’s smile faded the second she saw him. She avoided his eyes and went back to her food.

“Jasmine, I don’t agree to the divorce. We need to talk.”

Mason stayed right there, refusing to move even though Jasmine ignored him.

He already drew attention-sharp features, not soft at all, with eyes that seemed both tempting and dangerous. His silver-rimmed glasses made him look intimidatingly polished.

At nearly six-foot-three, he felt completely out of place in the busy cafeteria.

Even just standing there quietly, everyone’s eyes turned to their table.

Nella glanced at Mason and thought of Alfred subconsciously.

Although they had different appearances, they were the same type.

They had a way of stealing a woman’s heart and breaking it just as fast.

“I’ve thought this through. The divorce is final. If you’re not here about that, don’t show up again.”

Jasmine’s voice was steady and cold.

Mason didn’t move, and his face stiffened. “Jasmine, I’ve done nothing wrong. I won’t divorce. Why won’t you hear me out?”

His voice got louder without him realizing it, pulling even more attention toward their table.
