Did Zoey really not care if she caused trouble for Alfred? Or was she so used to his endless tolerance that she feared nothing whatsoever?
Either way, Nella had already done everything she was supposed to do.
If things went wrong again tonight, it would no longer be her problem.
With that thought, she leaned back in her chair, calm and detached, as if she were just an audience member watching a show.
“Alfred…”
Zoey stared at Alfred’s face. It was dark and heavy, as if a storm were about to break. She bit her lip hard.
She was still gambling.
Her unwillingness to accept defeat kept pushing her forward.
Zoey could not accept that Nella-a woman who appeared out of nowhere-had taken Alfred’s heart so easily.
Alfred’s jaw tightened, inch by inch. Anger filled his chest, burning hot.
His eyes were sharp and frightening.
Zoey was scared inside. Alfred had never looked at her with such cold, terrifying eyes before.
“Get out.”
Just two words. Cold. Firm. Final. The word slipped slowly through his teeth, carrying a pressure that could not be questioned.
His low voice hit like distant thunder. Zoey froze.
The air around them seemed to stop moving.
Her body swayed, as if she might collapse at any second.
And yet, she did not blame Alfred. Instead, she turned and glared at Nella, who was sitting nearby, clearly uninvolved and watching quietly.
Nella was puzzled.

“Why are you staring at me?” Nella smiled and asked calmly. “I wasn’t the one who told you to leave.”
Zoey had not expected that. Nella was no longer the weak, silent woman she used to be.
Before, no matter how Zoey provoked her, Nella always acted patient and understanding. Now, she dared to talk back.
Is it because Alfred treats her a little better now? Is that why she suddenly became so bold?
Why couldn’t Alfred see it? Why couldn’t he see that the past kindness shown by that whore was just an act?
“Alfred…”
Zoey tried to speak again, but Alfred had no patience left.
“If you don’t want security to drag you out,” he said coldly, “go back to your seat. Now.”
He had made it crystal clear. Even then, Zoey still refused to give up.
At that moment, Norris pushed through the crowd, his face pale with panic.
“Zoey, what are you doing here?” He spoke urgently. “Go back to your seat now.”
Norris was already furious and overwhelmed. If he didn’t take his daughter away immediately, he might be the one collapsing next.
He had told Eileen again and again to keep a close eye on their foolish daughter tonight. She was not supposed to cause trouble.
Yet he had only stepped away to the restroom, and this happened.
Did this mother and daughter really want their family to fall even faster?
“Alfred,” Norris said quickly, forcing a smile, “Zoey hasn’t been feeling well over the last few days. I apologize for the trouble. I’ll take her away right now.”
He apologized repeatedly to everyone at the table. Ignoring Zoey’s resistance, he dragged her
away.
As for the rest of the banquet, he no longer had the courage to stay.
Who knew what kind of disaster might be waiting for them if he did?
When everyone finally sat back down, expressions varied across their faces.

Some looked at Alfred with sympathy. Some with quiet amusement. But most simply thought he deserved it.
If he had not spoiled Zoey without limits, she would never have dared to cause trouble like this, especially at a moment like tonight.
