The seat to Nella’s right had originally belonged to Regis, but Camelia had deliberately switched places.

She looked determined. If she didn’t successfully introduce a cute guy to Nella tonight, she clearly wasn’t giving up.

Outside, Alfred leaned against the wall in silence. His tall, straight body slowly bent forward, inch by inch.

He knew, logically, that he should let go.

If he kept pushing, Nella would only dislike him more.

But he couldn’t control himself. He had already missed her for three whole years. To give up now felt unbearable. He wasn’t willing. Not at all.

Nella didn’t think about Alfred anymore.

She went back to the bedroom, changed out of her dress, and removed her makeup in the bathroom. Then she took a shower.

After drying her hair, she picked up her phone from the nightstand to check the time. That was when she saw an unread WhatsApp message.

“Nella, don’t get so smug. Alfred is just confused now.”

Nella was speechless.

She didn’t even need to check the sender to know who it was.

Nella couldn’t understand Zoey at all. On one hand, she believed Alfred didn’t love her. On the other hand, she kept coming to provoke her again and again.
