What he saw made his chest tighten. Her replies were short and cold. His messages were long and rambling. The contrast was painful.

As if he already knew what he was about to find, his finger trembled as he scrolled up.

Then he saw it.

The day Nella was buried under the snow.

“There was an avalanche. I’m trapped under the snow.”

“Nella, if you want to trick me into coming back, you shouldn’t tell such an obvious lie. I still need to stay with Zoey for a few more days. When you’re done playing around, come back on your own.”
