Chapter 295 Waiting at the Door
Alfred snapped back to his senses.
“Alfred, what’s wrong? You look awful,” Archie asked.
“It’s nothing,” Alfred said.
He hid the dark look in his eyes and shook his head.

After the living room was set up, Claire came in with Ryan and asked casually, “Where’s Nella? Isn’t she home yet?”
Claire had no idea that Nella had already moved out of Emerald Vista Bay. She asked without thinking.
Alfred remembered how cold Nella had been these past few days. A quiet unease rose in his chest.
He took out his phone and opened WhatsApp.
At the very top of the screen, Nella’s profile picture was still. No new messages.
Did she forget? Or was she not coming?
No. That couldn’t be it. Nella always kept her word. Since she had promised him that day, she wouldn’t back out.
After telling himself that, Alfred felt a little calmer.
“I’ll send her a message,” he said.
He walked out onto the balcony and typed a message to Nella.
“Everyone’s here. Where are you? Do you want me to come get you?”
After sending it, he stared at his phone without blinking, waiting for a reply.
Time passed. Nella’s profile picture stayed quiet.
Alfred’s face slowly darkened.
“Alfred, what did Nella say? Is she coming?”
Archie walked over and saw Alfred staring at his phone without saying a word.

“she doesn’t usually hang out with us,” Archie said. “Everyone feels a bit distant from her. Since we’re all here today, it’s a good chance to apologize to Nella for what happened before
Archie kept talking to himself, not noticing Alfred’s face growing darker by the second.
When Alfred still didn’t move, Archie sneaked a glance at the phone screen.
It was empty.
No reply: So Nella hadn’t answered.
No wonder Alfred looked so upset.
Just then, the doorbell rang
“That must be Nella,” Archie said, trying to lighten the mood. “She’s being so polite-ringing the doorbell when she’s coming back to her own place”
As he spoke, Danielle, who was standing beside him, gently shoved him.
“Babe, why did you push me?” Archie asked.
Danielle had no words.
One look at Danielle’s face, and Archie quickly changed the subject.
He had a feeling her next sentence would be calling him an idiot.
Alfred’s eyes lit up slightly. He turned to look toward the living room. It was the restaurant staff delivering food.
“Mr. Keywood, this is the dinner you ordered for tonight. Please sign here.”
The light in Alfred’s eyes faded again.
After signing, he checked his phone once more. Still no message from Nella.
A trace of restlessness crept into his eyes.
“Let’s wait a bit longer,” Ryan said, seeing Alfred’s expression getting darker. “Maybe Nella is already on her way.”
At that moment, the doorbell rang again.
“See? I told you. Nella’s here,” Archie said quickly, hurrying to open the door.
Alfred also looked toward the door with hope.

“Hello, this is the birthday cake Mr. Hart ordered. Please sign for it.”
Mason, who had been sitting on the couch playing with his phone, stood up when he heard that.
“Yes, that’s mine,” he said.
He walked over, signed the form, and carried the cake inside.
