If he’d known that dog had anything to do with Alfred, he would’ve beaten Eileen bloody before letting her lay a finger on it.

They’d been so smug, thinking Alfred would keep shielding their family because of his daughter.

Zoey froze when she saw him like that.

“Dad, what happened? The Keywood money didn’t come in yet?”

Norris looked at her in a daze, like she was the last rope he had to cling to.

“Keywood Group pulled out. Every project we had with them, both current and upcoming, just got shut down.”

Zoey went limp and sank onto the couch with him.

“No way. Alfred wouldn’t do that to us…”

She kept shaking her head, but her eyes were filled with hate and panic.

The next second, a harsh slap landed right across her face.

“You’re still living in fantasyland?”

“Dad…”

“We’re about to go bankrupt!”

Norris’s eyes were bloodshot as he screamed at her.

The prospect of bankruptcy finally scared Zoey.

“Dad, don’t panic. We’ve got so many joint projects with Keywood Group. Even if they really terminate everything, the penalty fees alone would be huge. They can’t just screw us over. Especially not over a dog!”

So she shoved all the blame on her mom and that damn dog.

Norris let out a bitter laugh. “Did you already forget how he treated that dog?”
