Chapter 315 Angry Dad
He called that dog his brother-in-law. In front of everyone.
“That wasn’t just some dog! That was Alfred’s brother-in-law!”
Norris screamed at Zoey so loud his voice cracked.

Zoey also remembered the way Alfred treated that mutt in public. Like it was his own damn kid.
No matter how bitter she still felt, even she couldn’t keep denying it now.
“Dad, even if that’s true, Keywood Group still broke the contracts. There’s a ton of penalties involved. Even if Alfred wants to, the board at Keywood won’t agree to that.”
Norris snapped out of it after Zoey said that.
“Right. Right. Every project we had with Keywood Group was worth hundreds of millions. If they pull out now, just the penalties alone would wipe out a massive chunk of their cash flow. No way the board would let that happen.”
That thought finally helped him breathe again. He picked up his phone and called his assistant.
“Send me all our contracts with Keywood Group. I want every file. Tell finance to calculate every single penalty we’re owed.”
There was a two-second pause on the other end.
Then the assistant replied, “Yes, Mr. Mack. I’ll have them handle it immediately.”
Norris hung up and slumped back into the couch. Not a word came out of his mouth.
This time, Zoey was actually scared. She slid closer to Norris and lowered her voice. “Dad, did you forget? We still have one last card to play.”
“A card?”
“Yeah. Our trump card.”
There was a flicker in Zoey’s eyes. Confidence. Excitement.
“Did you forget? I saved Alfred’s life. As long as we play that card, there’s no way he’ll be this heartless to us.”
Zoey looked sure of herself. But Norris didn’t have that kind of faith anymore.

If Alfred really cared about that debt, he never would’ve gone this far. He never would’ve made it public and let it spiral like this.
And they both knew it. Their family had gotten way more out of the Keywoods than anyone could ever justify as repayment.
And beyond that…
Norris didn’t dare think further. He didn’t want to.
So instead, he looked at his daughter and clung to the illusion.
“Zoey, Horizon’s future is riding on you. Go talk to Alfred again. Be calm. Don’t push. Don’t piss him off. And don’t, under any circumstance, bring up Nella. Got it?”
That last part made Zoey frown without meaning to.
But when she thought about how the Macks might be headed straight for bankruptcy, she clenched her jaw and nodded.
“Okay, Dad. I get it. I won’t upset Alfred again.”
She thought back to the way Alfred looked at her that day. That gaze was nothing like before. It wasn’t gentle. It wasn’t indulgent.
And it still made her stomach twist with nerves.
Meanwhile, Horizon’s finance team had moved fast.
In no time, every penalty clause tied to Keywood Group’s contracts got delivered straight to Norris’ phone.
He opened the report and took one look.
His face changed instantly. “What?! Just one million? Are you kidding me? How the hell did they calculate that?”
The person on the other end hesitated.
After a long pause, they finally spoke.
“Mr. Mack, if you check the original contracts … the compensation amount for breach of contract is written in black and white.”
