Zoey was a total mess. She didn’t care who was staring. She just clung to the phone, sobbing like her world was ending.
“Alfred, please! You owe me! I saved your life once, remember? Just one more chance! I’m begging you!”
Her voice cracked. She could barely get the words out through all the crying.
Alfred didn’t say a word.
Everyone thought that was it. He was going to shut her down. But after a beat, his voice came back, low and unreadable.
“Come to m
company.”
The whole room gasped.
Even Zoey, who had been a blubbering mess seconds ago, went still.
The old Alfred? He would give in all the time.
The new Alfred? She never thought he’d actually give in this time.
But he just did.
She stood there blinking, then her face lit up. She started nodding like crazy even though he couldn’t see her.
“O-okay! I’m coming to you now!”
“Nella.”
Alfred’s voice came through again.
But Nella didn’t wait for him to finish. “You’re already talking to Ms. Mack, so I don’t need to stick around. I’ve got class. Hanging up.”
She ended the call.
Right in front of her, Zoey had already dropped the fake tears. That smug look was back on her face, like she’d just won a war.
“See? Told you. Alfred can never stay mad at me.”

Chapter 321 Terrified Zoey
:
She wasn’t even pretending anymore. Her voice oozed with smug pride.
“When it’s me or you, he’ll always pick me. And as for that useless little mutt of yours…”
She glanced down at Marshal sitting in the stroller, clueless as ever. Her smile twisted.

“Even if it ended up dead in some sewer, no one would care. That’s what it deserves. Alfred still picked me, like always. Guess I win again.”
A sharp slap cracked through the air.
Zoey’s head snapped to the side. Her cheek lit up red.
Her smug grin vanished. She held her face, shocked.
“Did you just slap me?! Nella, are you freaking serious?!”
She shrieked and raised her hand to strike back.
Before she could move, a hand clamped around her wrist.
“Let go!”
Zoey whipped her head around and came face-to-face with Wesley. His eyes were cold and sharp. Her scream caught in her throat.
Then she remembered. She still had Alfred on her side. That gave her just enough guts to smirk again.
“Oh. So it’s you. You’re the guy she was screwing at that hotel. What a trashy-AHHH!!”
She screamed again. Pain shot up her arm. Wesley tightened his grip. Her whole face scrunched like she might pass out.
“L-let go! You … you…”

All the color drained from her face. The confidence? Gone.
She couldn’t even finish a sentence.
Then she looked at Wesley’s eyes. And panic rushed in.
“You … you…”
“I don’t care about the whole ‘don’t hit women’ thing. If you’re still gonna act crazy, I’ll teach you some manners myself.”
