Chapter 322 Intimidation

:

Wesley kept his face expressionless. His eyes, cold and heavy, made Nella freeze.

He’d always come off cool and controlled. Polished, confident.

But the way he looked at Zoey now? It honestly looked like he might break her wrist in half.

“I-I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have said that…”

Zoey was sweating. The pain shot through her wrist, and it forced the apology out of her mouth.

Her voice shook. The words barely came out.

But Wesley didn’t move. His stare grew even icier.

“You’re barking up the wrong tree,” he said. “You insulted someone else. Say it to her.”

Zoey’s face turned red from the shame. It felt like someone had just punched her with a bag of bricks.

Her wrist was still throbbing. It was hard to even breathe. She didn’t want to do it, but she turned to Nella and spat out a forced apology.

“C-can… you let me go now? Please?”

Her whole body was trembling from the pain.

Right as she braced herself again, Wesley let go without warning.

She lost her footing and slammed into the sidewalk.

The pavement was rough and ice-cold. Her palms scraped open, and her skin split in jagged red lines. She sucked in a sharp breath from the sting.

But she didn’t fight back. She didn’t dare look at either of them. She bit down, pushed herself up, threw a hard glare at Nella, and ran off with uneven steps.

As soon as she was gone, the nearby students-who had been quietly watching-started murmuring as they slowly dispersed.

“That influencer’s trash. Trying to ruin Nella like that? If it were me, I’d have slapped her twice.”

“She said that Marshal should’ve died. Nella was being too nice.”

“It wasn’t just the influencer. What about Mr. Keywood? She sniffled at him for five seconds and he caved. Pretty clear who he still cares about.”

“I thought he’d finally man up for Nella. Guess I was wrong.”

Their voices faded as the crowd moved out of the courtyard.

But Nella just stood there. Her brows had drawn close together. Her expression had gone tight, and something in her eyes flickered with discomfort.

“Nella?”

Wesley saw her spacing out and stepped closer. He bent a little until he was eye level with her.

“Sunny?”

His voice was soft. Gentle. Nella blinked and came back to reality.

Wesley had both hands resting on his knees, crouched down, watching her carefully.

That razor-sharp energy from earlier? Gone. His eyes were calm now, and his mouth tugged into a quiet smile.

She stared at him for a second. Then her face twisted.

“What did you just call me?”

“Sunny,” he said again, smiling a little more.

The second she heard it, she flinched. Her eyes pleaded with him.

“Don’t call me that. It sounds so cheesy.”

She hadn’t let anyone call her that since she was a teen.

Anytime someone said that name, she’d turn and walk the opposite direction.

“Seriously?”

Wesley chuckled. His voice was warm, and his tone felt like a nudge.

“But when I call my sweet baby that, she always runs straight into my arms.”

Nella didn’t have to ask who he meant. It was his Devon Rex.

Every time he brought up Sunny, his whole expression changed. The softness in his face could melt a glacier.
