No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 323

Chapter 323 Praise for Wesley

:

Nella gave Wesley an approving glance. Anyone who liked furry little animals had to be softhearted underneath.

“She’s a kid. I’m not. So don’t call me that. Especially not in public,” she said, shooting him a warning look.

Wesley held up his hands, grinning. “Alright, alright. Whatever you say, Sunny-wait, I mean, Dr. Milo.”

His playful look dropped as he studied her more closely. “You spaced out just now. What were you thinking about? Something bothering you?”

Nella shook her head slightly.

But those students’ voices still echoed in her mind.

If Alfred stepped in, Eileen was getting out. No doubt about it.

And when that happened, what was she supposed to do? Was she supposed to fight Alfred again?

Would she really have to watch Marshal get dragged into this mess once more?

The thought made her stomach twist.

“It’s nothing. Just wondering how far Alfred’s gonna go for Zoey.”

She remembered that night. Alfred had raised his hand to the sky and promised he’d make it up to Marshal, that he’d clean up the Mack family mess.

That was laughable. Thank God she hadn’t believed a word of it.

If she had, she’d be the one getting laughed at again.

Wesley didn’t know the whole story. All he caught was what she said, and something shifted in his eyes.

“So you still care that he’s defending Zoey?”

“Of course I care.”

She answered without even thinking. Too wrapped up in her own thoughts to hear the heaviness in his voice.

If Alfred had Zoey’s back, then everything she’d done to put Eileen behind bars would be for nothing.

Wesley stayed quiet. His lips pressed tight as he stared at her, eyes clouded with something she couldn’t place.

Then she blinked, like something just clicked. She looked up at him.

“Wait. Why are you even at Apex Medical? Did you already land something new?”

Wesley swallowed down whatever emotion was in his eyes and gave a soft smile. “Yeah. I locked it down before I flew back.”

“Seriously? Where are you teaching?”

He smiled wider, hands in his pockets, but didn’t say a word.

Nella narrowed her eyes. Then it hit her. Her whole face lit up.

“You’re teaching here too?”

Wesley nodded. “Yeah. Neurosurgery.”

Nella broke into a smile. “Then we’re colleagues. I transferred from the hospital. I’m teaching cardiac surgery now.”

Wesley’s smile deepened, his eyes crinkling. “Looks like fate’s still playing games with us.”

Nella didn’t comment. She just gave a small nod.

“I’ve got class this morning. Gotta stop by the office first.”

“Got it.”

Wesley nodded with a grin and ruffled Marshal’s hair. “Catch you later, Marshal.”

“Bye.”

Nella wheeled Marshal toward the shared faculty office the school had assigned her.

She wasn’t a full-time professor, just covering some classes, so they didn’t give her a private

space.

Instead, she shared a big office with two other lecturers.

When she walked in with Marshal, one of them was already there.

“Nella, hey! I heard from Mia you’d be subbing this semester.”

Nella smiled and nodded.

The two lecturers she shared the office with were actually old college classmates. They’d stayed on after graduation and had been teaching ever since.

By some stroke of luck, all three of them ended up in the same office. It made things way easier. No awkward introductions, no weird tension-just familiar faces all around.
