No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 33

Chapter 33 A Choice Made Clear

Alfred suddenly called out to her.

Nella turned back. After looking at her quietly for a few seconds, Alfred said,

“I’m heading home too. Let’s go together.”

Zoey, standing beside him, darkened at once. A flicker of displeasure and shadow passed through her eyes.

But she quickly smiled again.

“That’s right, Nella. I’m done here too, so I won’t hold Alfred up. You two go ahead. I’ll just take a cab home myself.”

With that, she made a show of walking quickly toward the hospital exit.

Her lower lip was clenched tight, her eyes reddened, and she looked painfully restrained and wronged.

Alfred frowned and stopped her. “You’ve never taken a cab by yourself. How can you go home alone?”

Zoey looked up at him with reddened eyes and shook her head.

“It’s fine, Alfred. I have to learn to be independent someday. You already have Nella. I can’t keep relying on you forever. Even if this is my first time taking a cab, I’ll learn to grow up and take care of myself. You don’t need to worry about me. And please don’t…”

She paused on purpose, biting her lip and casting a timid glance at Nella.

As if afraid Nella might be upset, she hid slightly behind Alfred and said softly, “And please don’t make Nella unhappy because of me again.”

Watching Zoey’s act, Nella felt deeply annoyed.

Alfred looked at Nella with a complicated expression and spoke hesitantly.

“Zoey, she…”

“I’m not going home,” Nella cut in impatiently. “I still have a shift at the hospital. We’re not going the same way. You should take Ms. Mack home.”

She had no intention of letting Zoey get into trouble again and somehow blame her for it.

Leaving those words behind, Nella walked straight out of the hospital without looking back.

“Nella!”

Alfred lowered his voice and called after her. His emotions were unclear, but seeing her reject him again stirred a flash of irritation in his chest.

This time, Nella did not stop. When she heard Alfred call her name, she even quickened her

pace.

As Nella’s figure disappeared from sight, Zoey glanced at Alfred.

Seeing his dark expression and the rising anger in his eyes, Zoey curled her lips slightly and looked again toward where Nella had gone.

Nella, you can’t compete with me.

Alfred will be mine sooner or later.

She withdrew her gaze and returned to her pitiful expression. Looking up at Alfred uneasily, she said in a soft voice, “Alfred, did I mess things up again and make Nella angry?

“It’s all my fault. I’m always so clumsy. I mean well, but I always make things worse.”

As she spoke, tears began to fall one by one.

Seeing Zoey cry in front of him again, Alfred surprisingly did not move to comfort her. A trace of impatience even crept into his heart.

Still, he said nothing. He only spoke calmly.

“Let’s go. I’ll take you home first.”

He did not wait for Zoey and walked quickly toward the parking area.

Noticing the change in his tone, Zoey froze for a moment, then hurried after him and got into the car.

Back at the hospital, Nella put the medicine she had brought back into her office, then headed to the cafeteria to eat dinner.
