“Regis never seemed like the cold-blooded type. Is it possible we’re missing something-some kind of misunderstanding?”
At her words, Wesley glanced at her sideways, silent for everal seconds, then finally spoke.
“Do you think Alfred is a cruel man?”
Nella was caught off guard hearing Wesley mention Alfred.
Wesley didn’t wait for her answer and continued, “Alfred left you alone out in the snow. Was that cruel?
“The Keywoods have a cold-blooded streak that runs through generations. Leaving my mom alone, abandoned, for over 20 years? That’s nothing impossible for them.”
His voice grew tense toward the end.
Nella reached out, placing a hand on his shoulder, urging him to calm down.
She wanted to say that whether Alfred was cruel or not depended on who he was dealing with.
But she decided it was unnecessary, and didn’t want to sound like she was defending him. She held her
words back.
Seeing Nella hesitate, Wesley realized he had overreacted.
He took a deep breath, settled his emotions, and forced a small smile at her.
“Sorry, I shouldn’t have lost my temper with you.”
“It’s fine, I said too much anyway.”
Nella said softly, patting his shoulder.
“Break’s coming up in a couple of days. You can pack your things and come with us to Cloria to relax.”
Wesley smiled, nodded, a faint light glinting in his eyes.
“Alright. Thanks for the advice, Nella.”
Everwell Medical, inpatient wing.
“Dad, you’re awake.”
Regis opened his eyes, still a little dazed and vacant.
After a while, his awareness slowly returned.
He propped himself up, and his emotions began to stirgain.
“Dad, don’t get too worked up. We’ve roughly heard the story from Camelia.”
Sebastian held Regis’s hand, hesitating a moment befor asking.
“Is he really Tolina’s child?”

“That child looks just like you. They say nephews take after uncles, so there’s no escaping it. It’s definitely Tolina’s kid.”
He gripped Sebastian’s hand with surprising strength.
“Tolina’s alive. She’s still alive!”
Seeing Regis so worked up, Sebastian quickly soothed him.
“Dad, calm down. I’ll send people to find her. This time, we’ll bring Tolina back for sure.”
Regis nodded, reassured after Sebastian and Priscilla stayed with him for a while, and finally lay back down.
Outside the room, Alfred and Camelia were waiting.
“Alfred.”
Sebastian called him over and explained the situation from back then in broad strokes.
Alfred immediately sensed something was off.
“Back then, my aunt was only 20. Whoever managed to cover her tracks, even from Regis, must have some serious connections.”
Sebastian nodded as this was exactly what he suspected.
When they had been looking for Tolina, Sebastian handled it personally.
Everyone sent to find her reported she had died, drowning herself with that punk.
At first, he didn’t believe it. A month of searching the waters where she supposedly drowned yielded nothing.
And shortly after learning of her “death,” Valeria passed away.
