The paternity test confirmed it-Wesley and Tolina wer biologically related.

It was even more authoritative than a test against Regis himself.

Alfred stared at the report, then at Wesley’s face, which bore a striking resemblance to his father’s, and had to admit it: Wesley really was his cousin.

This also confirmed another of his suspicions.

Back then, his aunt had been able to easily evade the people the Keywoods sent to find her because someone powerful must have been helping her stay hidden.

But who?

And why were they helping her avoid her own family?

What kind of scheme was really behind it?

Or was it just simple assistance?

Alfred’s face darkened, and he said nothing, simply putting the paternity report away.

“Have someone keep an eye on Wesley discreetly.”

“Yes, sir.”

3 a.m. The night was as black as ink.

Streetlights cast a faint glow over the quiet streets.

Wesley stood on the balcony, phone to his ear, expression unreadable.

When the person on the other end spoke with urgency, he frowned impatiently.

“I said I have my own plan. If my father can’t wait, I wont do it. You handle it yourselves.”

Hearing the irritation in his voice, the person on the line quickly apologized.

Wesley’s tone softened slightly, “Tell my father I won’t keep him waiting long, but he can’t touch my people.”

After hanging up, a notification popped up on his phon-it was from Nella.

“Senior, I have a question about neurosurgery that I’d like to consult you on.”

Wesley’s lips twitched into a slight smile, and he began ping rapidly on his phone.

The next day marked the start of the winter break.

Clifford and his wife went out to buy groceries with Marshal.

Ever since finishing their research projects, they have had free time.

Marshal was happily taken along with them, enjoying walks outside or being fed treats at home.

His injuries had fully healed, and he had grown stronge

Because the couple had decided yesterday to invite Wesley for lunch today, they left early with Marshal to buy groceries.

When they returned home, Wesley was already waiting by the door.

“Wesley? Why are you waiting outside? Isn’t Nella home?”

Felicia hurried to open the door. “Come in quickly.

“It’s too early, and she stayed up late yesterday. I didn’t want to wake her.”

Wesley acted with courtesy, naturally taking the groceries from Clifford’s hands as he spoke.

Clifford didn’t stop him, letting him carry everything in

Felicia glanced at Clifford with a meaningful look but said nothing.

Once the groceries were set down, Clifford headed into the kitchen.

Wesley released the little cat, Sunny, from its carrier.

Sunny padded around the living room like it was inspecting its territory.

Marshal was already sprawled on the couch, sunlight streaming in through the window, bathing the room in a peaceful winter glow.

“Professor Milo, I’ll help you.”

Wesley rolled up his sleeves and stood respectfully beside Clifford in the kitchen.

“No, no. You’re our guest. I can’t let you cook.”

Clifford waved him off.
