Chapter 385 What She Didn’t Notice
Before Wesley could respond, Nella laughed and waved her hand dismissively.
“Come on, you’re as bad as my mom. It’s just a divorce. It’s not like the sky is falling.”
She looked at Wesley with a serious expression.

“Seriously, don’t be like her. I really don’t care about Alfred anymore. The divorce didn’t upset me at all.”
Wesley said nothing. He just quietly watched Nella try so hard to prove she wasn’t hurting, his eyes distant and unfocused.
After a long moment, he smiled and nodded. “Alright. A long as you’re not upset, that’s all that matters.”
Seeing that Wesley wasn’t making a big deal out of the conversation he’d overheard between her and her mother, Nella secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
The two of them sat down on a bench on the lawn. The Wesley suddenly spoke, “My mom is coming back in a couple of days.”
Nella looked at him in surprise.
Wesley continued, “She’s probably going to return to the Keywood Estate.”
“That’s great. If there are any misunderstandings, she can sit down and talk things out with Mr. Regis.”
Nella said.
She didn’t feel it was her place to say much about the situation between Wesley and the Keywoods, so that was all she could offer.
But Wesley suddenly turned to her and asked, “Do you also think my father’s death had nothing to do with the Keywoods?”
“Huh? Well…”
How was she supposed to answer that?
She was an outsider. What could she possibly know about the bad blood between Wesley’s mother and the Keywoods from over 20 years ago?
Without knowing the full story, she couldn’t exactly weigh in.
“It’s fine. Just say whatever comes to mind. I want to hear your thoughts.”
Wesley seemed to have guessed what Nella was thinking and said this to reassure her.
After a moment of thought, Nella spoke, “I’ve only known Mr. Regis and the others for about three years, and we haven’t spent that much time together. But from what I’ve seen, they don’t seem like the kind of people who would do something so ruthless. Even Alfre…”
She paused, then rephrased.
“I don’t think Mr. Regis would do something that brutal o your father.”

Unless Regis had been putting on an incredible act in front of her, hiding every trace of that cruelty.
Wesley glanced at her silently, knowing exactly what she had stopped herself from saying. “Even Alfred.”
In her heart, even though Alfred had left her alone in the snow without a second thought, she still didn’t believe he was capable of true cruelty.
“You make a good point. That day, Mr. Regis told me himself that my father’s death had nothing to do with him. I was too angry to listen at the time, but after I went home and thought it over, I realized that maybe there’s more to my father’s death than I knew.”
Wesley’s tone was almost casual.
As he spoke, his gaze drifted somewhere else, hollow and unreadable, his eyes clouded with emotions that were hard to decipher.
But Nella didn’t notice.
In the days that followed, Alfred never appeared in fron of Nella again.
Once the divorce was finalized, there was nothing left connecting them.
During this time, Nella heard that Wesley’s mother, Tolina, had indeed returned from Glacieroth and gone back to the Keywood Estate.
Wesley never even mentioned what happened after that and she didn’t ask.
After spending some time recovering in the hospital, Clifford was finally discharged and went home.
