If Zoey ran to their house to keep Alfred company, it wouldn’t look good for Zoey if word got

out.

If Nella took it upon herself to send Zoey over now, Alfred might even think she was deliberately trying to smear Zoey’s reputation.

So she swallowed the words that had been on the tip of her tongue.

Nella didn’t linger to trade more nonsense with Zoey and continued toward the elevator.

To her surprise, the moment she stepped inside, Zoey followed her in.

“Don’t think Alfred personally driving you to the hospital yesterday means he likes you. only wanted to get here sooner because he was worried about Patrick’s condition.”

“Sure.”

Nella didn’t look at her and answered casually.

He

Zoey was dissatisfied with her indifference and snorted coldly before continuing, “I’m warning you. If you don’t cure Patrick, I’ll make sure Alfred doesn’t let you off.”

Nella glanced at her lazily. “Alright. Whatever makes you happy.”

“What-”

Zoey was choked by Nella’s utter lack of reaction.

“Don’t think I won’t do it.”

As she spoke, she scanned Nella from head to toe. Seeing her calm, unconcerned expression, she suddenly laughed.

“Drop the act. You’re jealous as hell, aren’t you?

“You’re jealous that Alfred treats me well. We grew up together. If I hadn’t gone abroad for treatment back then, there’s no way you’d have married into the Keywoods.”

“Yup.”

Nella very generously offered a single syllable in response.

No matter what Zoey said, Nella refused to take the bait.

Seeing no anger or jealousy at all only made Zocy more unwilling to let it go.

“Before I went abroad for treatment, Alfred already told me he’d wait for me and marry me when I came back. If Regis hadn’t rushed him into getting married, the position of Mrs. Keywood would never have been yours.”

Just as Zoey finished speaking, the elevator reached the first floor.

“I know.”

She said it calmly and walked out of the elevator.

Zoey hadn’t expected Nella to stay so composed even after all that.

Her anger flared instantly.

“Did you even hear what I said? Know your place and divorce Alfred already!”

She chased after Nella, shouting loudly.

At that moment, the inpatient building was full of family members coming and going.

Zoey’s shout immediately drew the attention of everyone waiting for the elevators.

The implications in her words were explosive, and combined with her hostile attitude toward Nella, people quickly put things together.

“Well, damn. I never thought I’d see a mistress provoking the wife scene straight out of a novel in real life.”

“That’s shameless. A mistress marching up to the wife and telling her to get divorced, like it’s justified. This is a first.”

“Seriously. Someone with any shame would never be a mistress in the first place.”

These days, mistresses and illegitimate relationships were universally condemned.

When the families talked, they didn’t bother lowering their voices around Zoey.

Under those scornful, scrutinizing looks, Zoey’s face went deathly pale.

She shouted at the crowd, pointing at the people whispering about her, “What do Mind your own business! Stay out of my life!”
