He then turned his gaze back to Vincent, a mocking glint in his eyes. “You’ve always had terrible judgment when it comes to people, Vincent.”
Vincent shot back bluntly, “You’re not exactly an expert yourself.”
Damian simply smiled faintly. “Really, now?”
Vincent didn’t bother to reply further; he saw no point in wasting his breath.
Seeing his silence, Damian added, “Genuinely, I hope you won’t live to regret this.”
Vincent looked him squarely in the eye, his tone firm. “Don’t worry, Mr. Langley. That day will never come.”
In Vincent’s view, he had no reason to feel any loss over Scarlett.
Even though she was Vanessa’s mother, Vanessa herself had grown attached to Sabrina.
As for romantic feelings, he had never held any for Scarlett.
And from a practical standpoint, the Theron family could never offer the Stewarts any meaningful social or business advantage.
So, from every angle, Vincent was convinced he would never regret his choice.
Even as a faint, sour pang echoed in his chest after saying the words, he dismissed it—it wasn’t concern, he told himself, just residual tension.
Just then, the door to the private room behind Sabrina swung open.
Scarlett, Nolan, and Thomas stepped out together.
The moment Damian saw Scarlett, he hurried over. “Everything okay?” he asked, his voice low.
Scarlett met his concerned gaze and nodded. “Yes, I’m fine.”
“Ready to head out?” he pressed.
“Actually,” Scarlett said, “Mr. Newman has invited Nolan and me for a private chat. You can go ahead.”
Damian’s brow furrowed slightly. “Then I’ll join you.”
Thomas stepped forward, his tone polite but firm. “Mr. Langley, this is a casual dinner among

Damian opened his mouth to object, but caught himself.

He remembered–Scarlett would soon be Thomas‘ student. Causing a scene now would only make things difficult for her.
Swallowing his pride, he nodded to Thomas. “You’re right. It wouldn’t be appropriate.”
He then turned back to Scarlett. “I’ll wait for you in the car, then.”
Seeing his stubbornness, Scarlett replied coolly, “Damian, you really don’t need to wait. I can get back on my own.”
Damian pretended not to hear. “Take your time,” he said gently. “I’ll be waiting in the car, like I promised.”
Everyone present witnessed Damian’s uncharacteristic humility, and each reacted differently- Vincent was bewildered, Sabrina seethed with envy, Scarlett was perplexed, Nolan felt a spike of alarm, and Thomas watched with surprised interest.
Damian had a well–known playboy reputation, yet he had never shown this kind of deference to anyone in public.
Now, he seemed to have cast aside all his pride in front of Scarlett.
Given his status, Damian truly didn’t need to lower his head to anyone–not even Vincent.
The whole display left the small group quietly unsettled.
It was Thomas who finally broke the silence. “Alright then,” he said to Scarlett and Nolan. “Shall we go out? Let’s not be distracted by… unrelated matters.”
Scarlett murmured, “Yes.”
Nolan nodded. “Of course.”
Thomas gestured for the two to walk ahead, following a step behind.
Just like that, the three of them made their way out of the lobby.
Vincent didn’t try to stop Scarlett from leaving. A heavy, unspoken discomfort settled in his chest, but he kept quiet.
As Scarlett’s figure disappeared from view, a shadow of gloom flickered briefly in Vincent’s
eyes.
