No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 562

He pushed open the door to the doctors' office without knocking, not caring that there were patients inside or that a group of physicians were in the middle of discussing someone's case.

Melinda was typing up a patient's chart at her computer station and didn't even notice Damian walk in.

It wasn't until he was standing right in front of her desk, his shadow falling over her keyboard, that she finally looked up.

The moment she saw it was him, her face lit up with a bright smile. "Mr. Langley?" she said, surprise evident in her voice.

He didn't say a word. He just grabbed her by the arm and started pulling her out of the office.

Completely confused, Melinda stumbled after him. "What are you doing? What's going on?"

Damian didn't even look back. His voice was ice-cold. "We need to talk."

She tried to pull her arm free, wincing. "You're hurting me."

He ignored her completely, his grip only tightening as he dragged her along.

He headed straight for the stairwell and started climbing, taking the steps two at a time while Melinda struggled to keep up behind him, nearly tripping more than once.

Finally, he pushed open the heavy door leading to the rooftop and pulled her through it.

He kicked the door shut behind them, the sound echoing in the open space, before turning on her with a look of pure fury. "What did you say to Scarlett after I left?"

Melinda's face was flushed from running up all those stairs, her breath coming in short, uneven gasps.

She looked up at him with wide, innocent eyes. "I didn't say anything to her."

Damian didn't believe her for a second. He stepped closer, closing the distance between them slowly, deliberately. The way he moved was intimidating, almost threatening, his presence alone enough to make the air feel heavier.

Every step he took forward, she took one back, fear flickering across her face.

Until her back hit the edge of the rooftop railing and there was nowhere left to go. Melinda looked up at him, her eyes glistening with tears. She gave him that same look she always did—innocent, wounded, like she was the victim here.

But Damian didn't see any of that. He just stared down at her, his gaze cold and unforgiving. "Melinda, listen to me carefully. I don't care if you saved my life back then or not. The only woman I love is Scarlett. If you ever speak ill of her again, I swear I'll make you regret it."

His voice dropped on those last words, low and dangerous. His eyes narrowed, and the look in them was colder than any winter storm.

Melinda met his gaze and couldn't stop herself from shivering.

But even so, she wasn't scared. Not really.

Damian leaned in closer, bracing one hand on the railing beside her while the other grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. "I'm not a good man, Melinda. I don't care that you saved me. If I decide I don't owe you anything, then I don't. You can scream about it until you lose your voice, and it still won't matter."

He shoved her chin aside roughly, leaving her neck red where his fingers had been.

Melinda's head turned sharply, her whole face flushed.
