No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 568

At ten-thirty that night, Nolan got a call from the hospital about a consult and headed out.

He took the elevator down to the underground parking garage and was walking toward his car when he noticed someone leaning against it—tall, silhouetted in the dim light.

As he got closer, Nolan stopped.

He didn't say a word.

After a few seconds of silence, Damian flicked the cigarette he'd been holding onto the ground and crushed the glowing ember under his shoe.

When he looked up at Nolan, his expression was just as arrogant as ever. Casual. Unbothered. "You saw her?"

Nolan nodded once. "Yeah."

Damian looked down, stomped on the butt one more time for good measure, then asked, "You got the doctors sorted out for her?"

Nolan's response was short, clipped. "Yeah."

Damian let out a short laugh at the cold attitude. "What, I'm your enemy now? You're freezing me out like this."

Nolan's face stayed serious. After a long pause, he finally spoke, "Thanks."

Damian's expression shifted, turning darker. "I didn't do it for you."

Nolan met his gaze evenly. "I know. Even if you hadn't told me she was hurt, I would've found out eventually. I'll always handle whatever she needs. So why hide?"

A bitter smile tugged at Damian's mouth. "She doesn't want to see me right now. I don't want to make things harder for her."

Nolan didn't know the details, and he didn't ask.

But after a beat, he spoke again, quieter this time. "I've loved her for a very long time. Years."

Damian's eyes narrowed slightly. He took it as a challenge—a declaration of war. His voice was blunt, unapologetic. "So what? You've loved her for years, so I'm supposed to step aside?"

Nolan didn't answer. His expression grew more complicated.

Damian straightened up and stepped forward until he was right in front of Nolan, close enough that neither could look away. His voice was low, certain. "You can't beat me, Nolan."

It wasn't a threat. It was a fact. No room for argument.

Then he turned and walked away, moving like a man who had already won.

Nolan watched him go. Just as Damian was about to disappear around a corner, he called out. "Mr. Langley."

Damian stopped. Turned slowly. "What?"

Nolan held his gaze. "Her heart isn't yours to claim. It's hers. The choice should be hers too."

Damian shrugged, utterly indifferent. "Doesn't matter. I make the calls in my life. Including who she ends up with."

He turned again and walked off without looking back.

Nolan stood there frozen, watching him go.
