After helping Clara slip her shoes on, Violet looked down at Scarlett and said, "Scarlett, I'm gonna take Clara downstairs, then I'll come back up and keep you company."
Scarlett blinked, confused. "Sis, is Clara walking to school by herself?"
Violet chuckled softly. "Don't worry. Someone's waiting downstairs to pick her up."
Figuring it was Nathan, Scarlett didn't ask anything else.
When Violet walked Clara outside, Damian's car just happened to pull up by the curb.
He stepped out and said to Clara, "Clara, you're riding with Eric today."
Clara let go of Violet's hand and walked over to Damian, linking her tiny finger around his. "Okay, I'll listen to you."
Seeing how happy she looked, Damian couldn't help but ruffle her hair. "What's got you so smiley?"
Clara tilted her head up at him, little backpack on, and curled her finger, motioning him closer. "Damian, lean down. I gotta tell you something."
Seeing her all serious, Damian got curious.
He crouched down and leaned in.
Clara cupped her hands around his ear and whispered, "Damian, Auntie kept saying your name this morning. Like, a lot."
A slow smile spread across Damian's lips. There was pure pride in his eyes.
"What did she say?" he asked.
Clara scrunched her face, thinking. "I dunno exactly. Something like 'don't' and stuff."
Damian caught her drift. Scarlett had been dreaming about him. The good kind of dreaming.
He curved his lips into a faint smile. "Got it, Clara. Thanks. Now hop in—I'll take you and Eric to school."
Clara nodded eagerly. "Okay. Thank you, Damian!"
Once Clara was in the car, Violet watched them drive off before turning and heading back inside.
Damian drove off and soon dropped Clara and Eric at the kindergarten.
Walking them up to the gate, holding each of their hands, he immediately drew a wave of squeals from the kids nearby.
"Whoa, he's so hot!"
