No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 623

After Nathan and Damian left, Violet stayed with Scarlett for a while before helping her upstairs. Scarlett tried to rest in her room, but sleep wouldn't come—her mind was too cluttered, too restless.

Downstairs, Diana had spent the afternoon simmering a pot of beef stew for Scarlett. The rich, savory aroma had drifted through the house, eventually finding its way upstairs.

By 5:30 that evening, Scarlett had already finished dinner.

After eating, the whole Theron family took Scarlett out for a walk. Clara came along too, chattering happily the entire time.

Winter in Rivergate was brutally cold, and even though Christmas' had passed, there still hadn't been a single snowfall. The first snow this year was arriving later than usual.

But according to the weather app on Scarlett's phone, it might finally happen tonight.

They strolled through the mall near their residential complex, picking up snacks along the way and buying Clara a new set of building blocks.

When they stepped back outside, the wind had picked up, and scattered snowflakes were drifting down from the sky. It looked like a heavy snowfall was on the way.

Feeling the wind pick up, Violet took off her scarf and draped it over Scarlett's legs. "It's getting windy. Don't catch a cold."

Scarlett's throat tightened. "Thanks, Violet," she managed, her voice a little rough.

Violet smiled softly. "If you want to thank me, just get better soon. Clara's been saying she wants to go upstate for New Year's this year."

Scarlett's nose stung with emotion. "I'll try."

Even as she said it, she knew the truth—it would probably be at least two or three months before her leg healed enough for her to walk normally.

Clara held a balloon, its string looped around her wrist, dancing wildly in the wind.

It was shaped like a bunny, with big round eyes—adorable, just like Clara herself at that moment. Tilting her head to look up at Scarlett, her round eyes filled with concern. "Auntie, when you're better, can we go play in the snow?"

Scarlett smiled warmly. "Of course. I promise we'll play in the snow together."

Clara bounced with excitement. "Yay! You're the best, Auntie!"

The little girl's face was all smiles, completely unaware of what had happened over the past two days.

It had been a close call—she could've carried the shadow of her father's actions for the rest of her life. But it didn't matter now. Things had turned out okay.

Watching Clara so happy, Scarlett's heart suddenly clenched. Out of nowhere, she thought of Vanessa.

There had been a time when Vanessa was just as innocent in front of her.

The thought made her eyes inexplicably redden.

Violet noticed immediately and gently scolded Clara. "What's with all the jumping around? What if you bump into your auntie?"

Clara stuck out her tongue. "If I bump into her, I'll just say sorry. Auntie would forgive me anyway."

Violet's expression turned serious. "Where are your manners? Just because Auntie spoils you?"
