No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 632

Scarlett figured he was probably tied up with work or something.

She went over and unlocked the window, thinking she'd leave it slightly open—a little backup plan, just in case Damian decided to drop by the way he did last time.

Truth be told, she was still a bit worried he might take a tumble climbing in, so she dragged a small footstool over and placed it right beneath the windowsill. That'd give him something steady to step onto when he landed.

What she didn't notice was that while she was busy with all this, someone had already slipped silently into the room and was now standing right behind her.

After adjusting the stool, Scarlett brushed off her hands—more out of habit than necessity—and took a satisfied look at the cracked window. A faint, pleased smile touched her lips.

Just then, a voice spoke softly beside her ear, warm and teasing. "Leaving the back door open for me?"

She knew right away it was Damian, but his sudden closeness still startled her. She pressed a hand to her chest, feeling her heart race, and shot him a look. "How... how did you even get in here?"

Her cheeks flushed bright pink, as if she'd been standing too near a fireplace.

Steadying her with a light touch, Damian grinned. "Just walked right in."

Scarlett frowned. "My brother's downstairs. How'd you get past him?"

Damian leaned down slightly, bringing his eyes level with hers. "Want to go ask him together?"

"No," she said quickly, turning away. "Forget it."

She grabbed her crutches and started making her slow way back toward the bed, pretending she was about to lie down again.

Seeing that, Damian gently caught her wrist. "Come on, let me take you out for a little while."

Hearing his tone, something inside her softened.

When she didn't respond right away, he added, "We could go watch the snow."

Scarlett hesitated, thinking of Nathan. "Damian... my brother's going to give you a hard time about this."

Damian didn't seem bothered at all. Instead, he took her hand, carefully lifted her into his arms, and headed for the stairs.

Afraid she might slip, Scarlett instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. But as they descended, she kept whispering, "Damian, seriously—my brother's going to say something. You should put me down."

Her protests faded into the quiet, unheard. Damian carried her all the way down without pause.

In the living room, Nathan and Violet were sitting together, deep in conversation.
