No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 780

Before stepping out of the main hall, Damian glanced back and offered Nathan and Violet a polite goodbye.

"Nathan, Violet, I've got errands to run, so I'll head out now. Thanks for having me over."

With that, he walked out the front door.

Violet called after him to drive carefully, and no other voices filled the quiet living room afterward.

...

Late afternoon, snow drifted down as Vincent pulled up at Ravenshade Villa. Fine snowflakes dusted every inch of his overcoat the moment he stepped out into the yard.

Once he crossed into the heated entryway, all the snow melted instantly into damp spots across his outerwear.

A dark, stormy look hung on his face, making it plain he was in a terrible mood.

Sabrina had been busy prepping food in the kitchen and wandered out curiously when she heard footsteps echo through the hall.

Surprised to spot him home far earlier than usual, she asked right away, "Vincent? Why're you getting off work so early today?"

Vincent ignored her entirely and sank heavily down onto the living room sofa.

That morning at the company, he'd discovered critical trouble with one of their ongoing development projects. A rival supplier had cornered the market on essential construction materials, leaving imported stock as his only viable option.

Import pricing ran twice the regular cost. If he refused the overpriced goods, the firm would breach binding contracts and face steep penalty payouts.

Either path meant pouring massive sums of unexpected cash into the project, and while money was no hardship for him, he hated tossing capital away due to underhanded scheming.

Adding to his foul mood was another upsetting discovery.

Though Harris' birthday dinner had ended on bitter terms weeks prior, Damian had accidentally scrolled a friend's Instagram earlier that day. The post held a nine-photo album featuring Harris, Daniel, and their usual close circle. The snapshots captured Harris blowing out birthday candles and digging into birthday cake.

It turned out after their messy split that night, everyone but Vincent and the men who'd badmouthed Sabrina had headed to a second spot to keep celebrating.

These two frustrations combined left Vincent irritable and simmering with quiet anger.

Spotting his exhausted, worn features, Sabrina stepped forward and rested her palm gently against his cheek. "What's wrong? Did something go wrong?"

Vincent had been leaning back with his eyes shut, but the warmth of her hand pulled his lids open abruptly. Thick red bloodshot veins webbed across his irises like tangled spider silk.
