Nathan ignored Damian's greeting entirely.

Unfazed, Damian turned toward Violet and called out gently, "Violet."

Violet broke into a warm, bright smile and replied, "It's such a relief you two got back safe and sound."

Clara's gaze never left Scarlett, her small face clouded with unmasked worry.

Meanwhile, Nathan's cold, brooding stare stayed fixed on Scarlett, and his eyes caught the faint love marks along her neck.

Scarlett sensed his rage and whispered softly, "Nathan."

Spotting Nathan's hostile glare making Scarlett uneasy, Damian casually stepped forward and shielded her behind his frame.

Though he stood a step lower on the front walk and had to look upward to meet Nathan's eyes, no trace of fear lingered inside him.

"Nathan, I truly love Scarlett with all my heart. I know you want what's best for her, and you don't want her marrying into a wealthy family and making the same mistake again. But I am nothing like Vincent. I hold no prejudice against her past; all I ask is to build a future by her side. I humbly beg for your blessing."

Damian dipped his head after finishing his speech.

Unlike Vincent, who was born into affluence, Damian had built his fortune and status entirely through his own grit and hard work.

He had never bowed to any man in all his years, yet he was willing to humble himself before Nathan for Scarlett's sake.

Damian kept his head bowed and answered, "I'd do absolutely anything to marry you."

Scarlett lifted her eyes to lock onto Nathan, her tone earnest. "Nathan, can you please not be like this? I... I like Damian."

Damian whipped his head toward her in surprise. His chest tightened watching her plead their case anxiously on his behalf. He was ready to swallow his pride, but he never wanted Scarlett to carry that burden for him.
