She carried the food upstairs once more, and Vanessa devoured every last bite in a flash.

When the girl finished eating, Maria sat down beside her and pulled her into her arms. Vanessa froze stiff, too scared to move or even glance her way.

Seeing how tense the child was, Maria let out a soft laugh. "Are you that afraid of me?"

Vanessa shook her head and spoke timidly, "N-no. I'm not scared."

Her evasive, flustered gaze told a different story, though Maria chose not to call her out on it. She coaxed her gently. "If your father asks how I've been taking care of you, what will you say?"

Vanessa thought for a moment, then answered quickly, "You take excellent care of me. You bathe me every day and cook all sorts of delicious meals, always something new. I've even put on weight."

A look of disdain flickered across Maria's face as she listened. Still holding the girl, she issued a sharp warning. "If you dare say a single bad word about me to your father, Sabrina will truly abandon you."

Terrified by the threat, Vanessa replied in a hoarse whisper, "I won't. I promise I won't."

Satisfied, Maria pushed her away. She picked up the empty plate and spoke coldly, "Good. Go to sleep now. Don't call for me unless you're on your deathbed."

With that, she left the room and twisted the lock from the outside.

Damian drove Scarlett back to Langley Villa. He reached out to lift her up the moment they stepped out of the car, and she did not resist. She lifted her hands and wrapped them around his neck.

They kissed passionately all the way from the front gate. Lost in his affection, Scarlett could no longer hold back her feelings, and she kissed him back fervently. Her eagerness only stoked Damian's desire further.

The path from the gate to the main hall led through a courtyard and a pebble walkway. It was a short distance, yet by the time they reached the entrance, Scarlett had undone the buttons of his shirt. Her warm fingers trailed slowly over his firm, muscular torso. Meanwhile, Damian had stripped her down to just her camisole.

Once inside the hall, he did not carry her upstairs. Instead, he pressed her firmly against the entryway wall. Supporting her back, he breathed heavily against her ear. "My love, I'm yours. Do you feel the same for me?"
