With that, he turned furiously and strode out of the hall.
Watching his figure vanish, Damian felt a dull ache in his chest, though knowing Vincent wouldn't touch Scarlett.
An arrogant man like Vincent would never accept a woman who had been intimate with another man.
Damian had said those words on purpose—first to remind Scarlett he'd never let go, and second to make Vincent realize they had had sex before.
Stepping out of Langley Manor with an icy face, Vincent saw Scarlett standing beside his car.
In the freezing cold, her face was bright red from the chill.
Even so, she still clutched Damian's silver handgun tight in her hand.
Whether because it belonged to Damian or to protect herself remained unclear.
Vincent skipped asking about the weapon, stepping forward to look at her flushed face, "Why aren't you getting in?"
Scarlett offered zero warmth, replying, "You know why."
Vincent smirked mockingly, "Scared I'll kill him?"
Scarlett stated with absolute conviction, "He's not as weak as you think, and you're not as strong as you believe."
At her words, Vincent let out an involuntary scoff, "You trust him that much?"
Scarlett answered firmly, "Yeah, I trust him."
Vincent poured salt on her wound without hesitation, "Yet he still failed to protect you."
Disgusted by his arrogant triumph, Scarlett shot back, "You should thank your lucky stars you're a donor match—otherwise I'd never step foot near you again, because spending a single second around you feels like wasting my life."
Hearing her words, Vincent shivered involuntarily.
After a long pause, he sneered, "What can I say? I happen to be the only matching donor."
With that, he hopped into the driver's seat.
Scarlett stood by the vehicle, hesitating to get in.
Vincent rolled down the window, "What? Still not getting in?"
After a brief pause, Scarlett finally stepped into the car.
She initially considered the backseat, but settled into the passenger seat instead.
Not out of preference, but simply to avoid wasting time getting out again.
Seeing her buckle up, Vincent drove off.
