No Second Chances Ex-husband (Lauren and Ethan) novel Chapter 239

**He Chased 239**

**ROMAN’S POV**

I stood there, utterly stunned, my gaze locked onto Elizabeth, who was standing right in front of me.

For a fleeting moment, I felt as if time had come to a standstill. My hand remained glued to the door handle, my shoulders tense, and my breath caught somewhere deep in my chest. I desperately wanted to articulate my thoughts, to voice my confusion, but the words eluded me. My brows furrowed instinctively, as I grappled with the reality of the situation. Honestly, I had never imagined that Elizabeth, or any rational woman for that matter, would engage in the reckless behavior she had just displayed.

I thought I had witnessed it all.

From the gut-wrenching sting of betrayal, to the shocking revelation that I had a child, to the heartache of watching that child being taken from me, and then the relentless struggle to find her and bring her back home. I had been pushed to my limits—mentally, physically, emotionally. I had been shattered and painstakingly reassembled more times than I could count.

Yet, I never anticipated anything resembling this.

Elizabeth stood at my threshold, her index fingernail caught between her teeth, her eyes fixed on me with an intensity that was both alluring and disconcerting. The vulnerability of her attire only heightened the shock; she was practically half-naked, her skin on full display.

The robe she wore barely concealed her breasts—just enough to tease, and I couldn’t help but think she had done that deliberately. From where I stood, I could see the curves of her breasts, her nipples almost daring me to take action. It was as if she might as well have strolled in here completely unclothed.

And her underwear—was it damp? Was that water, or something far more provocative?

I didn’t want to contemplate it further.

She seemed completely unfazed by the presence of the maids bustling about.

She showed no concern for the security cameras that recorded every move she made.

She was oblivious to the fact that everything happening in this moment was being captured for posterity.

All that seemed to matter to her was the insatiable desire that she could no longer suppress.

Her voice broke the spell that had me trapped in disbelief.

“You like what you see?” she teased, her gaze trailing down my bare chest as if she had already claimed it as her own.

“What is this?” I managed to stammer, still reeling from the shock. “Have you lost your mind?”

“Yes,” she replied, her voice a sultry whisper, devoid of any shame whatsoever. “I’ve gone mad for you. The way you resist me, the way you keep choosing my sister over me… all those little things make me want you even more. And I won’t stop until I get what I desire.”

With that, she took a deliberate step into my room, her foot crossing the threshold as if she were testing the waters, daring me to react.

I instinctively took a step back, staring at her as if she were speaking another language entirely.

“You think this is some sort of joke?” I questioned, incredulous. “Your sister is rooting for you. She has always been your biggest supporter. She’s thrilled to have you here, happy to welcome another family member, someone she can trust. Someone she believes won’t hurt her. And all this time, she has no idea that the very person she supports is the one trying to seduce her fiancé. Don’t you have any compassion?”

I was trying to reason with her, genuinely hoping to reach her heart one last time.

Because Lauren, for once in her life, finally had someone she thought she could depend on. Someone she could call family. Someone who wasn’t filled with the venom that Ethan and Sophia harbored.

But the look on Elizabeth’s face told me that my words were falling on deaf ears.

“I do have a heart,” Elizabeth murmured softly. “But you see… that heart beats solely for you, and no one else.”

A heavy sigh escaped my lips as I shook my head in disappointment, no longer bothering to conceal my feelings.

“You know,” I said quietly, the weariness evident in my tone, “I didn’t want to say this before… but now I see that you need help. Serious help. And if you let us, we could assist you.”

A slow smile crept across her lips, her eyes darkening with an intensity I couldn’t quite place.

“The only assistance I need from you… is to remove my underwear right here, right now.”

Before I could even process her words, she grasped the edge of the flimsy robe, slowly peeling it away from her body. I knew precisely where this was headed, and I refused to let it escalate any further.
