Author’s POV.
Hazel watched him with a thumping heart.
Her body shook from the feeling that rhymed into her body.
Her heart melted, and for a minute, she could barely utter a word. She just stood and watched the ring in his hand.
Silence filled the air, and the atmosphere suddenly became tense.
“I know for a week or two now, I haven’t been the best lover. But I promise not to be that way ever again, momma. I promise to be the best lover from now on and to be by your side through our journey of life. Everything I do is for you, momma. Everything I own, I own them for you. And with every single breath I take, I take them for you, momma. Do not say no.”
Hazel felt her whole world building up again, her hand covering her mouth as she stared around with teary eyes. Minutes ago, she was having conflicting feelings and crying hard about what she shared with Axel. But here he was, asking her to walk down the aisle with him. Forever.
“Oh… Axel. How can I possibly say no?” She shut her eyes, blinking back the tears and catching a glance of what her father’s expression looked like.
“I would be yours, Daddy. Yes, I will marry you.”
The long-awaited response finally came out, and Alex popped a ball, some glittering flowers falling on them as Axel slipped the ring onto her finger. Kissing her hands before pulling her into a hug.
He kissed her gently on the forehead, and Hazel smiled, staring at him.
“I love you.” He held her closer and left another kiss on her forehead, and her cheeks stretched into a smile.
“Always and forever.”
Hazel pulled away from the hug and walked towards her father.
He spread his arms wide open, and she fell in. He wrapped his arms around her, and she lay there peacefully.
“Thank you, Father, for letting me be with him.”
“Love leads,” he whispered and adjusted her head on his shoulder.
She pulled away from the hug and stood in front of Harry.
“Thank you.”
He rolled his eyes and slipped his hands into his pocket.
“Not like I have any choice,” he snorted, and Hazel hugged him.
He hesitated for a while, staring at Axel with a look that instigated Do not hurt her, before wrapping his hands around her.
“Go and excel,” he whispered gently and planted a soft kiss on her forehead, not taking his eyes off the burning Axel.
After an extended amount of time, she pulled away from his arms and walked right back, next to Axel.
“Someone is turning Mrs. soon,” Alex cracked, and Hazel wiggled her hands at him, laughing at her ring.
Alexia took a step next to her and whispered,
“He said every breath he took was for you. Damn! I wish I would hear heart-melting words like that.”
Hazel chuckled and snapped at her head.
“Your man is probably dying for ways to say such words to you, you know.”
“Oh, please.” She rolled her eyes, and both laughed.
Alexia pulled her into a hug and whispered,
“Someone is turning Mrs. Darwin in weeks’ time.”
