Author’s POV
Hazel sat in front of the mirror, looking all pretty.
“You may open your eyes now, ma’am,” came the gentle voice of the beautiful makeover lady.
Hazel’s eyes slowly parted open until she was able to get a glimpse of how she looked.
Her heart leaped, and her lips stretched into a smile as she stared right back at the beautiful reflection of herself in the mirror.
“Damn! Dolphin, you look so pretty,” Alexia whispered gently to her, and Hazel flashed her a smile. The name Dolphin melted Hazel’s heart. It reminded her of their Tracy moments. Though she was Alexia now, nothing changed.
“My brother made the right choice. I mean, all his life, he had only settled for the best. I mean, the best out of the best.”
Hazel’s cheeks flushed. Tracy had been her hype woman even as a friend, and now she was still her hype woman even as a sister-in-law.
It was here! Her wedding day. The day she had prayed for all her life. For Hazel, marriage was a big achievement. But marrying Axel was the biggest achievement. Looking back to the old days, it just dawned on Hazel that she really made the right choice, judging from what Armstrong had said about marrying her in fifteen years to come.
“You do not look happy,” Alexia’s worried voice pulled her out of her thoughts, and she flashed Alexia a smile, trying not to mess up her makeup.
“I am happy, Alexia. I am just overwhelmed by everything happening. It all happened so suddenly and, to the greatest of it, to my own favor.”
Alexia flashed her a smile. “You are God’s favorite. From the very start.”
Hazel smiled at that. She always got to hear that from her friend.
She stood up from the chair and gave her reflection a drool. Her hair was packed into a neat bun, and a few strands curled down, framing her chubby cheeks. She was dressed in her armless wedding dress that accentuated the goddess in her. Her beauty was as radiant as that of the sun, and she looked downright breathtaking!
“Damn! Your brother made a perfect choice, you know!”
Alexia loved the hype Hazel gave herself!
“No one could have suited him this well, Hazel. So, let’s say you are the best!”
Alexia and a few other maids helped Hazel arrange her beautiful wedding dress. It was huge. And since she didn’t want a bridesmaid, they had to arrange it for her.
“I can imagine how Axel feels in his room right now. He’s probably trying to picture your beauty and how stunning you look right now.”
“Come off this, Alexia.” Hazel chuckled, unable to hide her happiness.
Hazel walked on the red rug, her hand intertwined with her father’s as he walked her through the aisle, taking her to the man of her very dreams. The beautiful hall, filled with a few high-caliber men, was a black hall decorated with golden linings.
Today, Mr. Marco Martins was fulfilling his dream—the dream of marrying her off to someone he could trust. It had been Axel all this while. He had always had his eyes on Axel, and he knew well that sending her down here was the best decision.
He knew his enemies were many, and only Axel could protect her. But he was sad. His wife had passed away and didn’t get to witness this blessing. It was her mother’s last wish—that Hazel marry, and marry rightly. And Hazel was happy doing it, as much as her father was happy watching her do it.
Gentle music played in the background, and the small crowd (just like she wanted it) sat and vibed to the music in a slow rhythm while they enjoyed the spacious sight of the pretty Hazel.
The light. The pretty decor light. The glittering decorations. Everything. Hazel loved every single thing. It shone brightly, just like she prayed for a more beautiful and brighter life in the future.
Axel stood like the gentleman he was suddenly becoming and watched the beauty he would have to himself forever. He had specially asked for another vow. And when they didn’t have the type he wanted, he had personally written another beautiful vow that he would make heartfelt to her.
Mr. Marco Martins got to him and handed Hazel over.
He took the mic and blew air into it.
“I know you will love and cherish her for the rest of your life. But if you ever stop loving her, do not hurt her—please, return her back to her father.”
Those words melted everyone’s heart, and Axel was not an exception. He made a gentle bow and flashed his friend—yet father figure—a smile.
“Not loving her is impossible, sir! I will forever cherish her.”
