Once a Doormat Now Untouchable (Caleb and Sydney) novel Chapter 631

It was not only Sydney who sensed something unusual. Agatha felt it as well.

At first, when the Huttons arrived bearing so many gifts, she assumed they had come to thank Sydney for treating Florence's leg.

But the longer she listened to their tone and careful phrasing, the more unsettled she became. This did not feel like a simple courtesy visit.

It felt more like a young woman's family visiting her future in-laws to show goodwill and support.

The thought startled Agatha, though it also pleased her. The Huttons treated Sydney with genuine sincerity.

The relief lasted only a moment.

Elizabeth studied her for a while before smiling. "How is your health? Ray said you sprained your ankle not long ago."

Agatha took it for casual conversation and returned the smile. "I twisted it by accident. It's almost—"

Elizabeth slapped her thigh. "Oh dear, that will not do. A sprain takes a hundred days to heal completely. At our age, we must be extra careful."

Her concern sounded heartfelt. Before Agatha could respond, the older woman glanced at Sydney and continued, "Sydney is pregnant. You must be busy taking care of her. That may slow your own recovery."

She paused for effect, then smiled again. "How about this? Let Sydney move to Seraph Villa for a while. We have plenty of idle hands at home. We can take turns caring for her."

Agatha stiffened. 'So that's the real purpose of the visit.'

Sydney blinked in surprise and instinctively looked at the rest of the Hutton family. She knew Florence cared for her, but this level of enthusiasm from Elizabeth caught her off guard.

Was it only Florence's idea, or did everyone share it?
