As he spoke, he couldn’t help himself from reaching out and wrapping an arm around her waist. “This is a private hospital room,” he added with a grin. “The privacy here is great. You can relax.”

Aella pushed his hand away. Daniel couldn’t help himself and leaned in to steal a kiss.

She pointed at him and warned, “Don’t do that again.”

Daniel’s gaze softened. “Ever since that night, I’ve wanted to kiss you every day. I was worried you’d get mad, so I held back.”

He had held it in for days. Now that she had agreed to be his girlfriend, how could he hold it back?

Aella saw the hungry look in his eyes; she quickly stepped away from the bed. “Well, if there’s nothing else, I’ll leave now.”

Sophia said, “We didn’t drive off. We stayed in the car. When we saw Dr. Reid leave, we came back up.”

Daniel said helplessly, “Please calm down. All of you. Tone down that excited look on your face.”

The whole family sat in a circle around his hospital bed.

Thomas said sternly, “Daniel, a relationship that doesn’t lead to marriage is not acceptable.”

Daniel sat upright, hands clasped in front of him. “Dad, I’m serious about Aella. I’d marry her tomorrow if I could.”

Lilian leaned forward at once. “How many people are in Dr. Reid’s family? What do her parents do? What do they like? Any habits or things we should avoid? Tell us everything.”

When they mentioned Aella’s family, Daniel’s eyes darkened slightly.

Her family liked Tyrone. Her younger brother admired and depended on him deeply.

If Daniel wanted to compete with that, he knew it would take time.
