Chapter 566 The Price of Forgiveness
This was the first time in over a decade that Raine had ever dared to raise her voice at her father.
To say such things.
After the words left her mouth, Raine was so frightened she hid behind her uncle and wouldn’t come out.
Her aunt pulled Raine into her arms protectively, heartbroken.

Virginia wiped away tears, but her voice was unwavering. “Ralph, you’ve not only hurt me–you’ve hurt both of our children. You don’t deserve a family!”
Ralph stood frozen in place, the blow leaving him stunned for a long time.
Not far away, Aella’s heart ached as she reached for Tyrone’s hand and moved closer.
She whispered, “It’s okay, Tyrone. You still have me.”
Tyrone looked down and met Aella’s tender, cautious gaze. He forced the corners of his lips up to show her he was fine.
She knew all of his pain, all of his shame.
Without thinking, Tyrone squeezed her hand back.
Just like his sister said.
Every time his parents fought, he and Raine would hide in the bathroom, upstairs, out in the yard. Until there was nowhere left to go, nowhere left to retreat. Then he would take his sister to the Reid Residence.
No matter the time. No matter how late.
As long as he showed up with his sister, Aella’s parents would welcome them like their own children, fussing over them and taking
care of them.
If he and Raine didn’t want to talk about it, they never pried.
After all these years, the Reid Residence had become the only safe haven for him and his sister.
Robin instructed Tyrone, “Tyrone, take your father home.”
Ten minutes later, Tyrone left the McCarthy Residence with Aella.
Aella sat in the passenger seat. Ralph sat in the back, looking utterly defeated.
Aella turned around in her seat to peek at Ralph.
She couldn’t help but speak up. “Mr. Ralph, winning your wife back isn’t supposed to look like this. You’ve got to show some real sincerity, or you’re really going to crash and burn.”
Before she could finish, Tyrone covered her mouth with his hand.

Tyrone shot her a warning look. “I’m taking you home first.”
Aella quickly shook her head. “Young people should respect their elders. Drop off your dad first. He looks exhausted.”
Tyrone hesitated for a moment, then drove his father back to the Winter Estate first.
Justin respectfully opened the car door. Ralph stepped out and looked back at Tyrone inside.
Tyrone said to Aella, “Wait in the car for me.”

A few minutes later, inside the Winter Estate living room.
Ralph sat wearily on the couch, his voice drained of energy. “Tyrone, do you really want me and your mother to get divorced?”
Tyrone countered, “Isn’t that exactly what you’ve been working toward?”
Ralph’s face darkened. “I’m asking for your opinion.”
Tyrone replied, “In this family, it’s always been you and Grandpa calling the shots. Since when has my opinion ever mattered to you?”
Ralph sighed in frustration. “I know I’ve made mistakes. I’m trying to change, aren’t I?”
Tyrone said, “Don’t waste your breath on me. If you really want her back, make Mom want to come home on her own.”
Ralph said, “Let me have the kitchen prepare a few dishes. Stay and let’s talk, just the two of us. It’s Christmas Eve–you can’t really leave me to spend it alone, can you?”
Tyrone stood in place, his expression blank. “You might as well get used to it now. Once you and Mom are divorced, you’ll be spending every day alone.”
With that, Tyrone turned and left without looking back.
Justin watched the father and son with a heavy heart but didn’t dare to say a word.
Ralph looked around the empty house and suddenly felt completely lost.
From a young age, he had poured everything into his career, turning the Winters into the most powerful family in Vleka,
Wherever he went, people looked up to him, eager to win his favor.
In the eyes of outsiders, he had wealth, power, status, a complete family, and accomplished children.
But in reality, his marriage was falling apart, his son had turned against him, and his daughter wanted nothing to do with him.
Was he going to spend the rest of his life facing this empty house alone?
For the first time in his life, Ralph knew what it felt like to be afraid.
