**TITLE: Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 74**
In the midst of the chaos unfolding before them, Julian found himself at a loss for words, his mind racing with uncertainty. Just then, Kayla, with a fierce determination, maneuvered her way through the throng of reporters, positioning herself protectively in front of him as if to shield him from the onslaught of accusations.
With unwavering resolve, she addressed the media, her voice cutting through the clamor. “The Spencer family did not bring any chefs today, nor did we arrange for any pastry chefs. You are all gravely mistaken.”
The reporters, undeterred, erupted into a new barrage of inquiries, their voices overlapping in a cacophony of demands for answers.
“Now that something’s gone wrong, are you simply going to wash your hands of this?”
“Mr. Spencer, this is shockingly irresponsible!”
“Did you really serve the children expired food? What kind of conscience do you have?”
“If this was meant to be a charity event, shouldn’t the food have been thoroughly checked beforehand?”
The questions came in rapid succession, each one sharper than the last. Yet, Kayla stood her ground, her demeanor calm and assertive.
“Indeed, this charity event was organized by the Spencer family. However,” she paused, her gaze shifting to the director, “the chefs and pastry chefs were arranged by someone else.”
Turning towards the director, she continued, “Director, could you please clarify this situation for everyone?”
The woman, referred to as the director, appeared flustered and visibly shaken. As the reporters surged toward her, the color drained from her face, her anxiety palpable.
“Director, can you tell us exactly what happened?”
“Why did the children suddenly fall ill?”
“You are the director. You must know who hired the chefs for the welfare center. Was it the Spencers?”
“We demand an explanation, for the sake of the children!”
Nervously clutching her sleeve, the director stammered, “I-It was Ms. Whitley. She reached out to us over a week ago, expressing her desire to come today and prepare some delicious food for the kids. Given her previous donations to the welfare center and her kind treatment of the children, I thought it was a good idea to accept her help.”
The moment Renee’s name slipped from the director’s lips, Adam’s eyes widened in disbelief, a wave of shock washing over him. Julian mirrored that astonishment, turning to the director with furrowed brows, confusion etched across his face. In the next heartbeat, his intense gaze snapped to Kayla, searching for answers.
Meanwhile, in a distant corner, Jasper absorbed the director’s words, a gnawing sense of foreboding creeping into his thoughts.
Her emotions spilled over, and she broke down, tears of frustration and anger streaming down her cheeks.
Amidst the chaos, Kayla suddenly appeared beside her, gently grasping her hand in a show of solidarity. “You mean to tell me, you had no idea about any of this?”
Irene shook her head vehemently, her voice rising in indignation. “How could I possibly know? This is all Renee’s doing! She’s clearly trying to frame us! She’s out for vengeance!”
“Why are you so certain of that?” Kayla inquired, her tone probing yet cautious, as if testing the waters.
“I…”
Irene faltered, momentarily lost for words, her confidence wavering.
“Forget it,” Kayla sighed, feigning regret. “Now isn’t the time to dwell on that. What truly matters is minimizing the damage. We need to act swiftly. If only Renee were divorced from Adam, then the Graham family wouldn’t be dragged into this mess.”
“Divorce?” Irene’s eyes suddenly sparkled with a newfound idea.
In a sudden burst of energy, she shoved Kayla aside and charged toward the reporters, her voice ringing out loud and clear. “This has nothing to do with our family! My son has already divorced Renee!”
