Once She Came Like a Flash novel Chapter 75

**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 75**

The atmosphere in the room shifted dramatically with that one, earth-shattering sentence.

Irene’s declaration hung in the air like a thunderclap, leaving a stunned silence in its wake.

“Divorce? But Mr. Graham and Ms. Whitley were the epitome of romance! Their love story was the stuff of dreams, envied by so many! How could this be happening?”

“Is the Graham family just trying to distance themselves from her now?”

“Mr. Graham, can you confirm this? Is it true that you and Ms. Whitley are officially divorced?”

“What on earth transpired to lead to this?”

“Was Ms. Whitley seeking revenge against the Graham family with this shocking move?”

The crowd, a mix of reporters and guests gathered for the charity event, erupted into a cacophony of speculation and disbelief.

Adam stood there, his mind racing, yet he felt as if he were encased in ice, unable to move. The words echoed in his head, each one heavier than the last.

Children at the welfare center had been poisoned?

Renee was implicated in this horror?

And now, his mother had blurted out to the media that he was divorced from Renee?

Microphones jostled for space, some dangerously close to his face, as reporters clamored for a soundbite.

Julian, his heart racing with a mix of excitement and urgency, sprang into action. He discreetly gestured to his assistant, who moved in swiftly to create a barrier around Adam.

“Back off, everyone! Please, give him some space,” he commanded, his voice firm.

Seizing the moment of distraction, Julian leaned in closer to Adam, lowering his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “Your mother is playing her cards quickly. Announcing your divorce from Renee right now keeps both the Spencer and Graham families out of the spotlight for the time being.”

Adam’s brow furrowed deeply, his anger bubbling to the surface. “Isn’t this a bit too self-serving? What if Renee is innocent in all of this?”

Julian’s expression hardened. “If she’s innocent, then that’s a relief. No damage done. But if she’s involved, even slightly, the Spencer family will be dragged down along with you. And then, forget about helping the Graham family—we might not even be able to save ourselves!”

“How could she be so heartless, targeting vulnerable children? Is this really an act of revenge?”

“Mr. Graham, please answer our questions!”

The media pressed on, their voices a relentless tide. Several livestream influencers, boasting millions of followers, captured the scene, broadcasting it to the world. The incident was poised to go viral in an instant.

Kayla, standing beside Irene, her eyes sparkling with barely concealed glee, tried to maintain a façade of sympathy. “I doubt the reporters will take this seriously unless they see a divorce certificate,” she remarked, her tone feigning concern.

Irene’s eyes lit up at the suggestion, a spark of inspiration igniting within her.

With determination, she maneuvered through the throng, making her way to Adam. Reaching into her handbag, she pulled out a document, brandishing it triumphantly.

“This is the proof of the divorce between my son and Renee!” she declared, her voice ringing with authority.

She opened the contract, flipping to the second page, and pointed at the specified amount with a flourish.

“Renee agreed to the divorce, but demanded a staggering one billion dollars in compensation. We’ve already transferred the funds into her account!”
