Once She Came Like a Flash novel Chapter 83

**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 83**

A wave of satisfaction washed over Kayla, invigorating her spirit as she stood there, a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips.

“Renee, if you’re intent on creating a scene, just know I have the power to turn you into the laughingstock of all Harborview City! Imagine the whispers, the stares—your reputation in tatters, and Adam? He’ll never look at you the same way again.”

“Renee, you…” Adam’s voice trembled with a mix of anger and disbelief. He seized her wrist with a grip that was both desperate and demanding. “Is it true? Were you really assaulted? Why didn’t you reach out to me for help?!”

Renee felt a wave of nausea rise within her as she observed his hypocritical display of concern.

Her eyes, red and swollen from tears, reflected the turmoil within her. A gentle breeze danced through the air, tugging at the loose strands of hair that framed her face, some brushing softly against her lips. In that moment, she looked so fragile, a delicate figure on the verge of breaking.

“Mr. Graham, didn’t you make it clear that we’re already divorced?” She pulled her hand free, her voice steady despite the storm of emotions swirling inside her. “My problems are no longer your concern.”

“I…” Adam faltered, momentarily lost for words. Then, with a fierce determination, he declared, “Even if we’re divorced, I can’t just stand by and do nothing. You need to tell me who did this. I swear, I won’t allow him to get away with it!”

“Adam, you can’t take her word at face value,” Kayla interjected, her eagerness to stoke the fire evident. “What if she’s just trying to lure in a new man or playing some sort of twisted game?”

Julian cast a knowing glance at his sister, his eyes narrowing in disapproval, but he remained silent, the tension palpable.

“Yeah, we couldn’t find Renee earlier. Maybe she was busy with someone else… if you catch my drift,” another voice chimed in, dripping with sarcasm.

“Who knows?”

“Playing dangerous games like that?”

“So shameless, using a charity event as a backdrop to seduce men. If they had been supervising properly, those kids wouldn’t have been poisoned.”

“Exactly!”

How could he allow anyone to insult his mother in front of him? The thought of it was unbearable!

Seeing the storm brewing within Adam, Renee instinctively reached out to grab Alison, but the latter pushed her away. “What’s wrong with calling her out? I’ve got plenty more to say. And you—you’re a shameless, cheating bastard!”

With all pretenses stripped away, Renee felt a simmering rage build within her. But before she could fully unleash it, Alison beat her to the punch. She yanked a thick stack of photographs from her bag and thrust them into Adam’s face with a force that caught him off guard.

“You really thought we didn’t know about your little fling with Kayla?”

The photos slapped against Adam’s cheek, the impact stinging as they scattered across the floor like fallen leaves.

As he bent down to see what they were, Alison produced another hefty stack from her bag and tossed them high into the air.

The photographs fluttered down like snowflakes, raining down evidence for all to witness, each one a testament to betrayal laid bare.
