The boss moved, kicking up a large amount of snow. Godfrey’s eyes snapped to his left, and he leaned to the right while swinging his sword at his left side.
Sparks flew as the sword clashed with the boss’ sword, but those long blades that came out of his arm lunged for Godfrey’s head.
Godfrey forced his neck back, narrowly evading the blades as he deflected the next slash. His movements were swift. Even against this boss, an elf that had lived for a thousand years and practiced swordsmanship, his sword skills were not just able to match but even counter.
Just then, the boss vanished through a portal and appeared beside him, only for the gleam of Godfrey’s sword to reflect in his eyes. The boss tilted his head, squinting as the longsword opened a small cut at his cheek.
Grunting, the elf opened a gulley with a powerful downward slash. He stomped the ground, shattering a radius of fifty feet as he propelled himself straight toward Godfrey, swinging his knuckle blades at Godfrey’s chest.
Godfrey activated Mana Slash as he swung his sword, unleashing a crescent sword wave that the elf evaded by vanishing.
He reappeared above Godfrey. Seeing this, Godfrey spun as he swung his sword in a clockwise direction. It sliced through the earth, split the air, and came from above, right at the back of the boss’s neck!
The boss had dropped from the sky, aiming to attack with his sword once Godfrey blocked his strike, but it didn’t expect Godfrey to swing his sword before he even descended.
What looked like a mistake was actually a roundabout attack. Before the boss could react, lightning burst out of the sword as it sliced off his head.
The sword cut left a deep mark on the earth and even a faint outline in the sky!
’The power of a Divine Tier is frightening,’ Godfrey said inwardly. ’Had it not been for that Mastery skill Arian taught me, I wouldn’t have stood a chance, not even with the speed and strength of a Divine Tier. However...’
Godfrey wiped the sweat off his face. The immunity this boss possessed made him a grave threat. The runes of his Echo weapons didn’t work, neither did copying the elf’s abilities. He also doubted he would be able to heal from a wound inflicted by the boss.
’An ability to be Immune. I would have loved to have that in my arsenal. It’s a top-tier ability like Mountain’s ability to Mimic.’
Godfrey thought to himself as he squatted and picked up the boss’s sword. It looked quite beautiful with the feathery crossguard. Touching the blade felt like touching ice.
He picked it up and left for the town. Upon arrival, Godfrey saw his knights lined up. Dirge’s army had grown to six hundred and fifty-two, with the recent additions being shadow elf rangers and assassins, all of whom still retained their abilities.
Godfrey walked up to Lysander, who lay on the ground, and Tindra sat beside him, sobbing softly.
"Can you heal him?" Tindra asked with teary eyes.
Godfrey shut his eyes. "I can’t."
Tempest could only heal those who had taken the Golden Oath, and anyone that took the oath had to be a Golden Order Knight. Even though he didn’t know the requirements, his relationship as summoner and master allowed him to automatically benefit from Tempest’s self-heal.
’Even then. Even if Tempest had the ability to heal others, I don’t think it would work on him. Every wound the boss inflicts is immune to other abilities, including self-heal or external healing. And dungeon natives can’t leave a dungeon unless it’s a dungeon break, so there’s no hope of searching for a summon with a counter ability out there. He won’t even survive that long.’
