The fragile peace that had not even found a proper ground to settle between the vagabonds and the guilds was at the brink of collapsing when Lord Dexter and other Fanatics appeared.
"I see. These pets and rats have you cornered. We came just in time to aid a fellow worshiper." The moment Dexter said that, the eyes of the other three Fanatics behind him glowed.
Immediately, they unleashed their summons. Three Ignikai Berserkers appeared. Volcanic rocks made their armour and they all wore masks with two horns, exposing only their eyes that were like the depths of a volcano.
One of them held a bow, another had a sword glowing like it just came out from the forge across its back and the last one, almost twice as big as the other two who were nine feet tall, had no weapons, just massive arms that could melt whatever it touched with magma.
"I knew it." Raphael clenched his fist. Alex was doubtful all along, now he had also heard it. A Grand Black Moon had called Godfrey one of their own!
"What rubbish! Godfrey is a member of the vagabonds or did you forget who annihilated your forces when you tried to abduct his mother?" Saul sneered.
His words shocked the guilds. Raphael also squinted. What was going on here?
Dexter chuckled. "Back then, we were at odds indeed but after losing his wife under the nose of the authority’s most powerful summoners, he finally saw the light." He looked at Saul.
"You might still doubt, but the proof is that even until today, he has not returned to his own people when his mother is still there. Why?" Dexter smiled.
"Guess?"
Godfrey raised an eyebrow. What was Cain trying to achieve? Was he trying to force him back to paradise or be publicly treated as a Fanatic, thus being hated and hunted by all three factions?
It was a smart plan, even a crazy one. Unfortunately Godfrey didn’t plan on going according to the script. Cain made his plans in such a way that it was nearly impossible to back off or evade.
There would always be consequences. The reason being because his cards were the entire world. He controlled their views without their knowledge, and to disregard his plans meant he would have to disregard the direct means Cain planned to use to trap him.
People.
Saul’s eye gleaming with slight killing intent reflected in Godfrey’s irises. He also saw Arden, Thalia and Oliver’s expression change.
Of course,Dexter’s words made sense. He became a Fanatic after losing Isolde, what a perfect lie that no one would find unreasonable.
Cain wanted to cage him, to oppress him with the public’s views and if he wanted to truly be free, he had to let go.
They could think whatever they wanted because Godfrey knew the truth. None of this would make him reveal that Isolde is alive. Once he said and proved that, no one would point fingers at him anymore but doing that would be incredibly stupid.
He would lose the little he had against Cain. To win against a mastermind like him, he also needed hidden cards. If he revealed what he had too early, there would be no telling what Cain would do.
But whatever he did, it would end in his favour. Right now, Cain felt everything was within his control and Godfrey planned to let him continue with that mindset.
If someone like Cain thought something was out of order, he would become erratic. That would not result in a pleasant end.
He wasn’t strong enough yet. Good thing Earth was growing alongside him, once he returned he would enter gates that could quicken his growth.
